I have immediately notified you of the same on (date and approx time) and you have replied to me saying that you are fully responsible for the sale of the phone and you will stand witness and testify on my behalf that you have sold it to me. Further, I have had communications on this regard with you (dates, approx times) in which you have told me that this phone was indeed a stolen phone that have been sold to you by (their supplier) and it is indeed needed in an ongoing investigation relating to a robbery which has taken place (details). However, further onto this you have (date ) promised me to replace the phone with the same model and make since this is a stolen phone.
I use this phone for business purposes and lack of one would severely hinder my businesses and my day to day work. Therefore, please be kind enough replace me with a same model of a phone in brand new condition with full contents of its box and accessories.
I expect the replacement phone to be available by Monday (date) it self so i can continue on my work unhindered.

Do a letter like this or something similar.. go meet the owner and get his signature over this. You may have to change the content of the letter as and how they would prefer it.. but NEVER change the clauses that says they have accepted that it was a stolen phone and that they have promised to replace your product.
2. Take photocopies of all your bills, content and pictures of everything.
3. Go to the SCID and handover your phone and get their documentation as well. Provide a copy of the letter you have taken the signature from the shop owner as well.
4. Write this letter and get their signature and official seal (In sinhalese would be better)

5. Come back with that letter as well.. and hand it over to the shop owner and get your replacement phone.
6. However, if they decline... or want time to do so.. ask them for a smaller replacement phone till they give you a proper phone and dont give them any time over 7 days for it. and GET A WRITTEN note from them on their promise.
7. IF they are not keeping to their word., make a proper complaint at the Consumer affairs Counsel ( THIS SHOULD BE THE LAST MOST EXTREME STEP) but, I doubt that it would go this far.
8. IF you have to goto this step... by now, you have enough written documentation to screw up the shop owner.
HOWEVER PLEASE NOTE
Even the shop owner is helpless at this moment. Because he has sold you a phone which he had purchased from another person... they basically have to pocket the replacement out of their own. I am sure the other party which have sold the phone originally are not paying until the court case is solved OR would never actually pay at the end of the day.
So be fair and mindful of the shop owners situation and plight as well. Dont be a complete fucking asshole about your own problems. Try and listen to the guy and try to work out something which HE DOESNT get screwed as the end of the day as well.
