Moratuwa CS batch top has a huge demand in the industry when they are joining as a fresh graduate

Hiring CS batch top is a marketing trick do by IT companies. Because once you have CS batch top, you can hire the rest of the top talents of that year from all other universities very easily. That company become the trend setter company for that year & everyone wants to join them.

So even though batch top stays with them only for 1 year & then migrate for their Phd, that is enough for the company to hire rest of the top talents
That's why batch top takes huge salary

This is my thought about what is happening in the IT market (Good for them to demand a good salary)

    Nonsense ,
Wrong ! I think you are not familiar with the IT job market and experience in it.
I guess you are a PHD student or a academic person. What you telling is true for academic(S) PHD etc etc.
however this is what I also need.

BTW, the real commercial job market is totally opposite. We are hiring engineers NOT super models or bikini girls.
if you are hiring a welcome officer, you will hire from top #20 candidates of miss sri lanka contest.
R&D center does not need to market their people. Actually they are trying not to so they will stay at the same place.
Low learning curve and good for them. Instead they market their final products. In our case our hardware.

What you telling is totally correct regarding conferences, academics, top MIT like places are trying to hire Batch top from
CSE Mou. Every year they do !This is even common among tuition class instructors. They always want to put Island first or second in
    their banners.

Inside a real fortune 500 company, things are like this.
    > there will be compliance training every year. Every employee will have to cover that training. It teaches how you should do business in a modern world.
    > Tactical teams; They hire small teams , for specific purpose. But each member is highly qualified and no week people.
    > equality always only exception is the salary: you will never know the current salary of the person who sat next to your cubical, it's a personal thing. But by looking at his/her car you can get a pretty good approximation. So a person next to me have a toyata primeyo. A brand new one, house in Rajagirya , ...
So I can easily guess his salary is around 8Lakhs per month. But I used to say "machan' to him.
    > equality but not equal by salary.

I told my experience on what happened around 2015/2016 time. May be that is not correct in the current fresh graduate market

Same time that I also land on my first job as an associate engineer.
Are you have 5+ years of experience by now and you should be aware of the hiring process and policies right ?
What kind of a company that you are working in ? is it belongs to fortune 500 circle?
Or you just completed your internship there and join a university academic staff for future research/academics.
Because you sounds to me like that. Academic is also good. Teaching is an art that I cannot be ever masters this way.

The only thing that I see changed from that time is that, nowadays companies actually outsourced their hiring process to 3rd parties.
This is done for many reasons.
    > Unbiased hiring process. ( like USAID is well experienced professionals to research on how to help SL currently, giving us $ is a disaster).
    > Help of the subject experts who know a specific field.
    > laws and compliances.
    > company internal policy.

I was not in Sri Lanka after 2017. So I am not very much familiar with hiring process nowadays

But I have seen companies (99x, WSO2, MIT etc) around 2015 spent a lot of money & resources to hire batch tops from Moratuwa CS, Moratuwa IT & UCSC

And as I remember Moratuwa CS batch top got about 130K, so for that year 130K became the highest margin for a fresh graduate
