Moscato was originally a dessert wine. Both Moscato and Riesling are sweet wines and mosty ladies prefer it. Riesling is less sweet than Moscato.
Moscato is from Muscat grapes, originally from Italy. Riesling is from Riesling Grape and originally from Germany.
Have any of you tried the Icewines? Canada produces lot of these. I have been to a place where they produce these somewhere near the Niagara. The climate there is very good because of the long summers and very cold winters. Grapes are left ion the vine during the winter, the freezing and thawing causes the grape to be dehydrated and thus concentrating the sugars, acids and flavours.
If an amount of grapes can produce one bottle, the same when frozen will yield only one glass of Icewine. So Icewine is expensive.
There are very sweet wines too. eg The Hungarian Tokaji & the South African Constantia.
PS: Tawny Port wines are fortified with Brandy.
