sleep is essential to the every part of the body because those unable to proper functioning continuously without a rest...we dont care about the sleeping but it is very important ..If it is not enough sleeping during a long period of time may be causes to the reduce the memory capacity..sleeping is very essential to the brain...Not only that sleeping too much is not good for helth also...I heard that new cells are been formation among the sleep but not sure..
