Before you purchase a Nissan Leaf,
    • Decide whether you need an UK or a JDM Nissan Lead
    • UK model has more features compared to JDM model and Head Unit ( HU ) and Instrument panel is in English language. So UK models are expensive compared to a same level of JDM model
    • What is the Nissan Leaf trim you need ( do a research before selecting the proper trim )
    • UK - Visia, Acenta, Acenta+, Tekna
    • JDM - S, X, G, Aero Style ( S, X, G )
    • If you go for a JDM model, what extra options can get
    • Optional in G - Around view camera, BOSE energy efficient sound system
    • Optional in X - LED head laps, Fog lamps, Reverse camera, Real spoiler solar panel
    • Make sure they have the charger cable ( EVSE ) and the SD card
    • EVSE is very expensive item to purchase. And SD card is also married to particular car's HU only. Getting a new SD card is very expensive and a hard process
    • Mileage can be reset very easily on Nissan Leaf. So never go for cars with suspicious mileage ( i.e. 2013 AZE0 with 2000 mileage ) unless you can do a battery scan before the purchase.
    • If you are purchasing from a local seller, make sure he got the extra key and the SD card. Additionally, it is better to do a battery scan before the car purchasing
    • If you are importing, make sure to ask Japan/UK dealer to ship extra key and SD card ( and EVSE also if possible ) separately to your address in reliable/registered post.
    • Above shipment will be landed to SL within 3-4 days, so clear it from the customs once you received their clearance letter
While you car is on the way to Sri Lanka,
    • Do proper wiring for your car charging
    • Make sure you have ground ( earth ) connection is properly connected
    • Select dedicated 17A circuit breaker from fuse board or add new breaker dedicatedly for charging
    • Make sure the power line from the breaker to the charger connection end point has wired with a good cable ( 2.5mm, 3 core ACL or Kelani cable is recommended )
    • Get a proper NEMA wall plug to the charger connection end or get a 15A wall plug and buy a proper extension cable ( one side 15A, 3 pin plug and other side NEMA female connector. You can buy this from Mahisanka ). Anyway, it's better to keep an extension cable always with you and will be important when travelling outstation.
    • Now check you connection using your EVSE ( when power circuit is on, in the EVSE, green ( Ready ) light should be indicate without flashing.
    • Make sure your regular parking/charging location has a shelter/garage

    After you received your car,
    • Inset the received SD card properly
    • Switch off your car
    • press Eject button on the HU
    • locate to SD card compartment ( below where you insert Cds )
    • Open that compartment and insert the SD card to the slot B ( MAP )
    • Close the compartment and press eject button again to close the front panel
    • Start the car and check HU is working
    • Do a 100% charge for the first time use
    • Later, charge only up to 80% unless you are planning a long run ( Note : 80% mode has discontinued from cars after 2014 )
    • Read the maintenance manual properly and do not go for unnecessary maintenance like coolant/gear oil replacements.
    • Do a battery scan only if the odometer reading is suspicious and running mileage is very low ( Below 100 Km per full charge in normal city traffic )
    • Research on forums and FB pages for learning best driving patterns
    • Optional modifications
    • Setting up the clock ( change the clock from Japanese time to Sri Lankan time )
    • Language charging ( Only dashboard/instrument panel language can be changed so far and don't waste lot of money for this since instrument panel has very less amount of information )
    • Paint and interior protection film installation
    • Fog lamps, Rear cam installation
    • Join EV Owners Club - Sri Lanka for more information and benefits
