Sumidero Canyon - Chiapas. Central state in Mexico -
It's a very beautiful place. You can take a view from the top. Then drive down to the place were there are fast boats available. They take you on a two hour trip on a fast boat. Each boat can carry 32 pax, the captain and another helper. Large Suzuki outboard engine, very powerful and very fast.
There is wildlife too... Flocks of Eagles (Convocation of Eagles
), Crocodiles, Some beautiful white heron like birds etc. The canyon through the gorge has nice views. The photos below doesn't justify it's beauty.
But the sun and the ambient temperatures are quite high at 37 deg.
We stayed one night in Tuxtla and took a flight to Cancun. That's where we are now.
Chichén Itzá - Mexico’s most important cultural landmark. Drove from Cancun. Stopped at Valladollid on the way. There are a few Cenotes there.
Here are some photos taken today. The weather was cloudy.
The entry ticket is expensive when compared wit other sites in Mexico.

We finished our Mexico tour. Tomorrow we will fly to San Francisco from Cancun. Currently we are in Playa Del Carmen, a popular beachside area in Cancun.
We even drove through remote villages, but only in daylight hours and haven't had any problems so far.

Not like in the movies... Cartel guys do not harass tourists. But they do run things here. In Mexico city itself there's huge police presence anytime.
We are now back in San Francisco.
PS: San Fransico seems to be worse than Mexico. When I collected the car the lady at the rental desk told me not to keep anything inside the car. They even steal the catalytic converter of the Prius.
The drive from Monterey to Big Sur... Monterey is 200 kms from San Francisco. So many beautiful lookouts and National Parks.
Started from Monterey about 8.30 AM, back at the hotel at 7 PM. Total distance walked 14 kms for the day.
