and the main advantage of paypal is you dont have to give your bank account details to your customers (your sort code account number and all that). just your paypal email address.

true. basic account will be more than enough to get it start and buy anything online. but if you wanna go advance and start a small honest online business, there will be nobody to stop you too.
. if you live in australia, it is good to open an ebay account as well. you need 10 feed back score to start selling.

If you want to buy from ebay, yes you need to have an ebay account. after you succesfully bought the stuff, the seller will leave you a possitive 1 point (only if the seller is happy, same thing when you sell too). after you get 10 points you are verified ebay member and you can start selling with a fix price.

yes may be it is bcos you just have a basic account. to do a business and receive money you need to open a premium account. and you will need to be verified with paypal by direct debit too. when u setup the direct debit with paypal and your bank everything will be ok
