Now, you know my absence.
Once, my secrets were poured into your open ears,
Now, they remain locked up with no way out.
Once, you knew my worries,
Now, you are oblivious to my pain.
Once, you calmed my fears,
Now, you are the cause of them.
Once, we talked late into the night,
Now, we exchange a few scant words.
Once, you pulled my heart together,
Now, you smash it back to pieces.
Once, you held me in your warm embrace,
Now, I stare at your back as you walk away.
Once, my words flowed free,
Now, they are restrained, hesitant.
Once, I trusted you with my life,
Now, I hide from you.
Once, you were a friend,
Now, you are a stranger.
Once, you knew me, my friendship, my love,
And now, all is lost with scarce redemption.
Once, my eyes met yours with confidence,
Now, they search blindly for signs of life.
Once, I made a mistake,
Now, my wounded heart pays the price.
Once, your smile serenaded me,
Now, your indifference brings about scalding tears.
Once, you taught me how to live,
Now, I teach myself how to survive.
Once, I had hope,
