We certainly need to face it, but at the same time needs to observe measures to prevent the infection rate. The only way to end it are to Pan-Coronovirus (Universal) vaccines (won't happen till 2022) , have an anti-viral drug (there are a few but not quite) or the virus itself mutates into a form that isn't capable of infecting humans rapidly as now (like what happened with SARS)
Till then you need to rely on boosting the currently available vaccines (developed for the original Wuhan virus) and taking steps to minimise spreading. Lockdown is an effective method but over a long term not very practical in an economic sense.
