With a strike rate of more than 80, he is a proven danger lurking in the lower middle order during the death overs, aptly demonstrated in 2006 against England when he smashed five sixes in his 75 in the fourth one-dayer at Trent Bridge.

Caused confusion in 2002 when he supposedly changed his name to Abdur Razzaq on joining Middlesex but it soon switched back.

The youngest bowler to take a hat-trick, against Sri Lanka in 2000, aged 20.

Kamran Akmal Profile

After Moin Khan and Rashid Latif, Kamran Akmal is the next talented wicketkeeper-batsman to represent Pakistan. He made his first-class debut at the age of 15 as a useful wicketkeeper and a hard-hitting opening batsman. After a string of good performances for Pakistan A, he earned his first international cap against Zimbabwe.

A gritty character, Akmal is a useful batsman who can be moved around in the batting order. His keeping has been criticized but he has always taken the criticism as a stepping stone to improve.

Initially, he was always chosen as an option in the absence of the regular keepers but with the Moin’s retirement and Latif out of contention, Akmal has become a full-fledged member of the team.

Mohammad Hafeez Profile

Mohammad Hafeez is a talented opening batsman who can bowl handy off-spinners. He was one of the many youngsters who were picked into the Pakistan side after their dismal 2003 World Cup campaign.

Hafeez has proved time and again that he is a long term prospect for the team. His work on the field is especially remarkable. Guarding the point and cover regions with intense vigilance, he has saved plenty of runs and has pulled some stunning catches. With a good batting technique and temperament to play in the top order, he is an asset to the team.

Since 2007, the all-rounder has been a regular feature in the Pakistan side.

    Saeed Ajmal Profile

This off-spinner made his International debut at an unusual age of 30, during the 2008 Asia Cup. He was included in the Pakistani squad in a crucial encounter against India in which he bowled 10 overs at an economy rate of 4.70. Ajmal picked up his first international wicket when he sent Yusuf Pathan home for a 'duck' in the same game.

The veteran spinner would have been more than relieved when he finally received the 'big break' after being overlooked by the Pakistani selectors for over a decade through which he served the domestic circuit picking up over 230 first class wickets in 72 matches including fifteen 5-wicket hauls.

    Shahid Afridi Profile

Shahid Afridi is one of the greatest entertainers in world cricket. ‘Boom Boom Afridi’, as he is widely known, follows a simple theory of either to hit hard or get out, which makes him a crowd favourite. He started his career with a bang at the young age of 16, as he smashed the fastest ODI hundred in his maiden innings off just 37 deliveries.

Afridi is at his best when playing straight and at his weakest while pushing at the ball just outside the off stump. He is capable of hitting almost any ball out of the park and is dangerous when in full flow.

His carefree attitude has cost him a regular place in the side over the years. The all-rounder is also an excellent leg-spinner. Afridi was adjudged the Player of the Tournament at the World Twenty20 in 2007. He had another memorable edition in England. The all-rounder was awarded the man of the match in both, semi-final and final match of the 2009 event.

He was later made the captain of the T20 side as regular skipper Younus Khan decided to retire from the shortest format of the game after guiding Pakistan to victory.
