    Hi!

    If you are a new user to linux, use Ubuntu-8. Itz easy 2 install and you can run it as an application inside windows xp. If you need redhat to be installed, be careful with the hard disk resizing, coz you might even format the entire hard disk...!
    Try to download the official manual distributed by redhat and follow it very carefully.

    Also note that RedHat Enterprise linux is commercial software and that you need to purchase subscription to get updates. You're better off using CentOS 5 (same kernel as RedHat ES 5) but is distributed under GPL. The interfaces is identical and only the logos are different.
    Get it from www.centos.org
    There are lots of howtos and tutorials on the web for CentOS
