Didn't want to jump in but wanted to make a correction.
If you look at features like city break assist (or AEB) / ABS / Traction control / Electronic Stability Control / blind spot warning they are build to prevent accidents from happening.
And after all that if it does happen there are again a lot of features to save the life of the passengers.
my research showed me that a safe driver like me could survive without ABS. Even BWM introduced ABS in the 80s. There are vehicles without ABS and they are doing fine. Having ABS is really great, but it is not a essential feature to put a vehicle on the road. There are many cars already without ABS on the road. So why worry?
It is very stupid to go for a very old vehicle for such a clumsy feature![]()
It's sad that despite Shan's 8 month research on vehicles he still have no clue how safety features like ABS help avoid accidents... cars like KWID are more vulnerable to brake lock - up due to narrow tyres that doesn't offer much grip on road. With a budget with 2.2+ mil he could've essily gone for a used jap equipped with ABS as a standard feature, not to mention wider tyres and all![]()
It's not Shan's fault. It's the Sri Lankan State which has successfully made such safe vehicles (including mass transport buses) out of reach of its citizens. With the money I will be paying for this basic car, plus a 1000 Euro more, I could buy a brand new Renault Captur in France, a crossover SUV with all those safety features.
Did you watch the video?
Did you see how the car equipped with ABS was able to prevent the accident from happening?
Did you see the car without ABS trying to stop itself from running into the accident and how it failed due to brake lock-up?
Did you see the car with ABS trying to stop itself from running into the accident and how the brake lock-up didn't occur and the driver was still able to steer the car away from danger?
What happened here is not minimizing the damage but avoiding the accident altogether. The car equipped with ABS was able to avoid the accident while the car without ABS failed to do so.
Clumsy feature? ABS?
There are many self proclaimed "safe riders" around the world who likes to ride bikes without wearing helmets and I'm pretty sure most of them are doing fine too, until they meet with an accident. Oh yeah, having a helmet to protect your head is great but there are many people riding without helmets so why worry? Helmets are not mandatory even in US isn't it?
Luckily wearing helmets while riding bikes is mandatory in SL, if it wasn't I'm pretty sure there would be many people riding without helmets claiming that they're "safe drivers who could survive without helmets".
all japanese cars comes with ABS right, post 80 cars? but they gets in accidents all the time, you can stop it

what are you talking about??? this is not about fucking moto bikes.
if you dont use a helmet , when a accident happens there is a high probability of getting damaged.
but even with helmet you cannot prevent accidents from happening
if you are saying that by having ABS your vehicle will not be accident, then you are a retard!
Obviously you seems not understand about what ABS actually do and how it works. Every driver is a safe driver until met with a accident. Therefore don't take things for granted. There is a reason why ABS is a mainstream equipment in every motor car. Unless the car companies themselves are stupid to put such useless feature in their vehicles which only adds to the cost.
the answer to your question is in your answer. I have highlighted it. The only way you can stop an accident situation is keeping your vehicle and yourself at home. Get my point machan??
If you drive a car with no safety equipment, which gained 0 safety rating on every test, no structural integrity, when an accident happens there is a high probability of you getting mortally injured. That's the similarity between driving an unsafe car like KWID and riding a bike without wearing a helmet, why the hell can't this simple fact go through your thick skull man?
Did you watch the damn video I posted? The ABS equipped vehicle avoided the accident, didn't you notice? ARE YOU BLIND OR SOMETHING!!!!!!?????? ABS gives you a chance to avoid the accident altogether while the non- ABS car will simply lock its wheels and you won't be able to do anything!
I didn't say if you have ABS you're 100% accident - proof, just like wearing helmets won't make you 100% head- injury proof.
read that back and see how retarded it soundsHe is not blind, and I'm pretty sure he watched the video. It's just that he doesn't want his "opinions" threatened.ARE YOU BLIND OR SOMETHING!!!!!!??????

While there are some people struggling to understand the importance of a basic feature like ABS, imagine the car calling 000 (in Australia same as 911 in US) giving the GPS location to the operator when an air bag operates or the car rolls over..

I know what ABS is and I know how you can minimize the damage with it or completely. But can you avoid that situation with ABS? its like saying ABS cars
do not get accidentread that back and see how retarded it sounds
Sigh...
Okay let's try again. (yep i'm that jobless today)
NON-ABS scenario
1. A car comes down the road
2. Some obstacles roll on to the road at a moments notice
3. Driver slams brakes and swerves to avoid obstacles
4. Wheels lock up - Driver lose control - car hits the obstacles - ACCIDENT
ABS scenario
1. A car comes down the road
2. Some obstacles roll on to the road at a moments notice
3. Driver slams brakes and swerves to avoid obstacles.
4. ABS kicks in and prevent wheels from locking up - Driver is able to control the car - Successfully avoided obstacles Accident avoided
So you see, ABS can avoid a car from getting into an accident situation.
Like I said, ABS won't make you 100% accident proof -( just like helmets won't make you 100% head injury proof. That doesn't mean one shouldn't wear a helmet when riding a bike does it?)
