yep...So no worries mcn.. even with a brand new Japanese cars, we can't sell it for the same price we bought..but with a used car, there is a 50/50 chance to resell it for the same price we bought or a higher price.

If I want to buy a brand new car for long term use & for a reasonable price, I will go for a brand new Indina car.If my budget around 50+ laks , then i will buy a japaneese car,no doubt about that.

BTW here is one of my threads I opened about this KWID few moths ago..I saw it on IKMAN.Lk.

    http://www.elakiri.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1735945

So good luck again & can't wait to see your review machan..Im eager to know wheather this model is ok or not..

exactly my thoughts . if the budget is 50+ go for a good car with full options

some cars have good look, all features + all safety options. and they are fucking expensive

some features you dont use for life. choose according to your budget :)

also I test drove the vehicle by Ideal Motors in this thread you quoted

and the vehicles from AMW. Ideal motors one had a body kit installed with fancy wheel

Can anyone of the proponents of buying a used Japanese car with ABS for a sum of 22 lakhs, instead of a brand new Indian entry level car, tell me how much it would cost to service such a vehicle? :baffled::baffled::baffled::baffled::baffled:

Renault KWID - 1.0 L is to be introduced in June 2016

Renault created a loud buzz at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi earlier this year when it took the wraps off the Kwid 1.0-litre and AMT. The company has now let the cat out of the bag by revealing that at least one of these two variants could be launched in India in the coming weeks

    You didn't get my point....

When you buy a brand new car, your tyres have zero mileage on them. The next replacement is due only after you have driven 35,000 - 42,000 km.

When you buy a second-hand car, the tyres are somewhat used. You can't drive 35,000 km with them. Sooner or later you have to replace them.

Tyres for Japanese cars (16") are more expensive than for Indian cars (13").

The same applies for the battery. When you buy a brand new car, the next replacement is due in about 3 years.

When you buy a used car, the battery is not brand new. You have to replace it sooner or later.

When you buy a brand new car, there are no running repairs, at least during the first 2 years.

When you buy a second-hand car, you don't know when the next running repair will occur.

When you buy a brand new car, the first 3 services are free.

When you buy a second-hand car, there are no free services.

When you buy the Kwid, there is a warranty for 2 years.

When you buy a second-hand car, there is no warranty.

Again, you don't understand the clientele of Sri Lankan entry level car buyers. With great difficulty, they collect 5 or 6 lakhs. And then, in order to pay the rest they have to go for a loan. Then comes the monthly installments for the next 5 years, which is also a huge burden on them.

Therefore, not having to replace the tyres/batteries; not having to pay for running repairs for at least 2 years is a great saving for them.
They would be very happy if they can save even 1000 Rupees.

Then comes the fuel efficiency. Indian entry level cars are designed to save fuel. Maruti Celerio (22 kmpl) and Renault Kwid (25 kmpl) are more fuel efficient than a hybrid car (20 kmpl). I know a bank manager from Kegalle area who owns a 10 year old 1.8 L Toyota Premio which has ABS, but travels by bus, only because his car is a petrol guzzler. He uses his car only to visit friends and relatives.

Indian entry level car buyers are not interested in safety features. What they want is a decent car for the little money they have in their hands. They are mostly salaried people and therefore are unable to "roll" money like businessmen do. So, they cannot afford cars equipped with ABS, EBD, ESP, etc, etc, etc.....

If you can't understand what I have written here in plain English, then there is surely a problem with your language skills.
    :oo::oo::oo:

I do respect your opinion and once again, I wish you'd like your purchase.

Having maintained 2 Japanese used vehicles (1 car, 1 van) and a brand new, I would still say a used one would have been better.

When you buy a car brand new, regardless of its origin, you immediately devalue it by a good percentage. So even if you have money, I would still choose well-maintained used vehicle. I don't care about the pride of getting a new car. If I can get more for my bucks, I'm not thinking twice. I have a fairly good knowledge and experience checking a vehicle before buying, so get into my shoes here.

Secondly, your point is valid that a brand new car gets warranty (3 years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first I believe), some free services, and tires, etc will not need that much running expenses. They have a good fuel economy as well, so there's that. There are some fuckers who sell vehicles with engine troubles and what not (the Japanese ones), but guess what the overall cost can be lower. You will need to replace the tires at some point, and running costs will come to that all the same. Combined with the resale value, and if you sell it may be a couple years later, you would still get a good portion of your money back to buy a brand new car. The expenses would then be the running expenses and the depreciation which is a fraction of the price. The engines tend to work for a very long time, the body hardly gets rust and is very durable and what not.

May be this conversation would be more interesting if you can write a review after you get the car. It can turn out that the body is strong, has decent handling, reasonably comfortable. It looks really cool for the price from what I can see in the photos. I've got to test drive it some day.

Rs.5,807.00 for con. engine oil + oil filter replacement (Every 10000 Km)
6 month oil replacement (Not mandatory but for ease of mind I get it done): Rs. 4000
Every 6th oil change is completely free ( Labour + oil)

I believe all what you say. But the average Joe thinks the way I have written. That's why Marutis sell.

Could be a problem with my language skills :(.

When we buy second hand vehicle, we consider about tires, battery and all other maintenance work to be done. price depends on those factors. I don't know whether warranty covers running repairs.

Seems like you are having friends who buy vehicles just to show others that they are rich enough to afford one. even they will do the same thing with Maruti or Kwid.
Don't believe the fuel efficiency values given in the sheet.

each vehicle category has different set of buyers. people who buy brand new Indian have their own reasons for that. same for Japanese buyers.

Did IELTS test few years back. 8.0 overall. thats the only evidence for language skills :P
