I don't know the exact answer for your question machan, but some companies do some kind of tricky things when it comes to salary,

what they do is they give two kind of salary allowances, they call it as "inflation" or "convenient" or what ever they like to address it, and that allowance get all the employees in that company it will be around (10%-40% or 50%) and they gave "performance" allowance for someone who do great performance. but sadly all great performers also may not be recognized as great one
