Software engineer salary..??

if you have a BSc Eng degree from UOM, you can start from about 55-60K in most of the international companies like (CS, MIT,Codegen)

Does the university mattter?

I think all it takes to become a good software engineer is that whether he is a "wedakaarayek" or not..? NO..?

Normally software engineer can get Rs 40 000 +

Any way what ever degree you have done first you should prove your talents

In Sri Lanka you can get upto 200 000 and 300 000 per month

But in foreign you can get 75000$ + per year(It's depend on country and your talents)

Any way There are may jobs in It field

Software devoloper
Software programmer
software engneer
software architecture
Project manager

etc.......

Every one talk about Software engineer.You can not go directly the post of software engineer.

Mh.....It's very difficult to explain how it's goes on...

One company's Software Engineer may mastermind software solutions get involved in planning the solution.... where in another company he may be required to assist in developing it as well!

Yeah, I know.. All I need is some salary information regarding the specific job that is titled as "java software engineer". To be honest, I don't really interested about .NET or other platforms.

I know its a bigger spectrum. I'm final year student at UOC doing a special degree in Bioinformatics and have some expert knowledge in java. I know there are lots of other job titles and also I'm not a newbie for the field..bt as a student, not as a prefessional.

The main reason that I publish this Q in this forum was to get a clear idea about "starting salaries" in "various srilankan software companies" before applying for the job, "software engineer-java.". So dudes.. help me by providing some salary information..

when spectrum gets wider salary also gets wider, for newly starting web developer salary is bit lower.

Yes. + even a diploma u can be a software engineer but you should have experience.

I agree with you. But lots of my friends working as software engineers said that they were asked LOTS of questions at their interviews, regarding various concepts and the ones who performed best got the jobs regardless of their university..?
