The Police have arrested 25 individuals in connection with brothels being operated under the guise of spas in Colombo and its suburbs.
Police Media Spokesperson SP Jaliya Seneratne told The Sunday Morning that the raids had been carried out on Friday (17).
The raids had been conducted in various parts of Colombo and its suburbs.
In total, 57 brothels which were operating as spas were raided by the Police.
The Police Spokesperson said that 25 individuals, including women, who had been connected with the operations of these establishments had been arrested.
The raids were carried out in accordance with the directives issued by the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in Charge of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon.
Earlier last week, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had instructed authorities to crackdown on any spas that were carrying out illegal activities.
