Former General Secretary of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party MP Tissa Attanayake has pledged to support the President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the upcoming presidential elections.
MP Attanayake, who crossed over to the government today, made this pledge when he met President Rajapaksa at the Temple Trees after the President handed over the nominations.
The former UNPer assured the President he will do his utmost to ensure his victory at the election.
The Democratic Party (DP) Parliamentarian Jayantha Ketagoda, who also joined the government today, met the President and assured his support.
