Guys,

I guess you ight remember about my new PC i mentioned here
http://www.elakiri.com/forum/showthread.php?t=232338

Wel i got all the stuff and everything's almos ready now. (Except the VGA which is supposed to come on monday or tuesday)

System specs
-------------
Intel Core2Quad 2.66GHz
Foxconn SONATA M/B
2GB DDR2 800 1 stick
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 250GB HDD
Samsung WriteMaster 22X DVD Writer
ASUS GTS 250 512MB VGA

Well i'm not very happy about the PSU i got with the case so i'm going to exchange it with the dealer for a better branded one.

Here are the specs of the PSU i have right now
500W
+12V = 22A
+5V = 30A
+3.3V = 21A
+5VSB = 2A
-12V = 0.5A

I think if i get a good 500W PSU fom a good brand i think it should be ok. So can anyone help regarding the voltage line Ampere ratings i should request my dealer for, when buying the new PSU?

Please reply soon guys coz i need to get this rig up & running ASAP coz i'm fed up of waiting for 1.5 months:(

thnx

Thanx for the info bro, i checked it...but 15k is a little too much for me right now:( Anyhow it looks like a damn good PSU.

amacrox 500w - 6500/= unity plaza
Machan do you know any specific place i can ask? coz i'm very busy during the weekday 8am-4pm:( at campus. Even saturday is like hell for us med students:( so only got sunday to play games n do sum gadget shoppin (which i love very much doin:cool:). So it'd be a great help if u could give me place to ask bro (to call n see what they have).

btw where did you buy the "Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 250GB HDD"? and at what price?

Other than the VGA and MOBO all the other stuff i got down from my uncle in Kandy. I'll ask him n tell you abt the price bro.

Actually guys i need a sort of spec for the PSU i need so i can send it to my uncle & then he'll check what's available there n tell me. So could you help me on the amperes i should ask for in the +12V, +5V +3.3V rails?

it would be really nice to get the price of that hard drive if you can. and where i can buy one if i need to...

as for the power reqs take a look at these pages:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/2...forum/243633-33-video-card-power-requirements

http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculator.jsp

but i am sure you should be ok with a 6K-10K priced branded psu, as your card is a mid range one. as from my experience and of what i read on these forums, lots of people run their vgas with psu's that are bellow the minimum reqs without much problems. but if you are going to overclock anything then you should give more attention to your psu... i think. i haven't really done any overclocking so... :)

I called n asked for the price just now, he said he'll check tomorrow bro. I'll tell it to you a soon as i get it.

Thanx for the links. Ive checked with extreme's calculator but it only give the voltage rail requirements in the pro version so too bad i guess :-(
I'll check the other link from THG if have time tonight.

Yeah ur ryt bro i'm sure a 7K PSU will be good enough, i'll have to go and see if time permits

btw.... i have a new question. Is it ok to plug in and check the VGA with current PSU i have? I thought it wouldn't be a good thing to since i' not very confident about the PSU. What do you think guys?
