I think in the Adilaid test Swann's out bowled by Monty..He sensed that ..There is no chance for two spinners in MCG @ boxing day.If there were any chance for two spinners it would be Sydney..But Ashes is all but gone..Monty is very good spinner but when Swann is in the limelight Monty lost whole lot of opportunities..I think that struck swanny.They don't stay in the team if they know they can't give 100% for the team they play.And he may've felt like he betrayed the country by loosing such a pathetically..He seemed very annoyed with himself in the Perth test.
Yes,Cook may feel like stand in a middle of an endless tunnel.
It was a devastating series so far for England,the team boasted to win Mega Ashes 10-0 (by Vaugen) and converted to win the winter Ashes 5-0 (by Bothem)..They were hit by Mitchel Jhonson. This series thought us anything can happen in Cricket..
Swann is a wonderful conventional spinner..Wonderful man with bloody fantastic humour. He and Pannersar bowled a wonderful spell of bowling against India at Mumbai and Culcutta to win the series coming from behind with 1-0 down. That spin partnership in Mumbai is the best conventional spin partnership I've ever seen.India was hit by a spin Tsunami...
This whole Trott and Swann saga and confident team loosing Ashes to average Aus team on paper in three test show how tough place to win Australia is..I think Eng were flattered by Eng Ashes results and they were complacent considering Aus form and previous Ashes result 3-1 in AUS in 2010/11...
