Who want to drive a ugly car with so many features ;)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so in reality KWID have no way of surpassing the Picanto, Picanto wins in every aspect if you compare the two vehicles (KWID looks like its roomier than the Picanto tho)

that's a false statement dude. Most of the featured cars are good looking. Even 95% people are buying cars without knowing most of the things about motor mechanics. :)

You don't need to know J-S about motor mechanics to tell Picanto is better than the KWID in every possible way there is... END OF STORY

Says you. There is no proper comparison of 1L kwid vs 1L Picanto online. So Still not sure  . 1 thing is certain safety must be good on picanto 4 sure :)

22-27 no big difference brother. picanto is better than the kwid in many ways except the look. but nobody cares the look when it comes to the comfort and features
21-27 is huge to normal ppl who lease these cars. And Kia has very bad 2nd hand market. maruti, kwid like budget cars are almost not loosing their value in the 2nd hand market.
So they don't care about all the good things in Kia, they buy alto or kwid.

    ncap 5 star rating thiyana

Make sure you mention it's China-NCAP which is not affiliated with Global-NCAP, EU-NCAP, Latin-NCAP, Au-NCAP or IIHS and it's standards are way less strict compared to any of the aforementioned car-safety testing entities...

    Old story, its updated!
In 2012 when C-NCAP’s test protocols took a significant step closer to matching European requirements:
There was a general increase in the thresholds for dummies’ injury scores
The main frontal offset impact speed increased from 56 to 64km/h
C-NCAP added a rear occupant evaluation element
The organization already introduced a full-width frontal impact against a rigid barrier at 50km/h in 2006

In 2018 it will match EuroNCAP and even US standards.

Actually Latin NCAP is way lower coz its targeting developing countries. Kwid trying to get Latin NCAP for Brazil export model

Step - Closer doesn't mean it's fair to take C-NCAP ratings are in par with Global/EU/US/AU ratings now does it? That fact should be documented in a fair review IMHO, That C-Ncap standards still doesn't match Global/EU/US/AU NCAP standards and it's not affiliated with any of those entities howsoever.

    Please UPDATE your knowledge.
CNCAP is under global Ncap too. Like Eu/Auz/Latin etc..

Global NCAP is the umbrella organisation for NCAPs across the world

Thanks for the update. But I don't think that the C-NCAP standards are in par with any other NCAPs around the world, maybe except for latin-NCAP? For example, this article says "active safety systems do not count for anything in the C-NCAP rating."

So I still think eluding the fact that C-NCAP standards are not in par with EU/US/AU/JAP NCAP standards from your upcoming review is unfair for the prospective car buyer who's concerned about the safety of the car he's going to buy.

What you think is not true. So don't assume things bro.
That article says CNCAP is not testing for (ESC) Electronic stability control which none of these budget or even some high grade Allion/Premio japan sedans have. So its perfectly okay for comparing these cars.
And none of these cars have EuroNCAP tested too. So nothing to compare with ESC in EuroNCAP. Global NCAP testing these cars for those basic collusion testing which is very well included in CNCAP. And all have failed.

It's perfectly okay to disregard info on safety ratings if you're doing a comparison between the KWID with the Panda, KWID is a utter failure when it comes to safety anyway...

The point I'm trying to make is, even with the new improvements C-NCAP tests are not in par with EU/US/AU/JAP NCAP ratings.

Comparison between C-NCAP (2012 standard) and JAP-NCAP is down below:

This is a misconception the prospective carbuyer should be aware about, the Panda GS which costs 1.895 million doesn't come with airbags. The panda which earned 5 star C-NCAP rating had dual airbags + Curtain airbags - So clearly the non-airbag version of the panda which costs 1.895mil doesn't have a 5 star rating. I hope the upcoming Micro PAnda review will document this fact.

In 2012 when C-NCAP’s test protocols took a significant step closer to matching European requirements

I did some digging and found out that as per the C-NCAP's official website the Panda wasn't re-tested according to the new standards.

    http://www.c-ncap.org/app/cncap/pzsj.jsp?pzid=1874

    Rw7Css2.png

Even the Youtube videos of the crash test prove that the Panda was tested according to the obsolete standards of C-NCAP.

    JEBk9Sn.png

Note the test speed of frontal impact test against deformable barrier with 40% overlapping is 56Kmph (obsolete C-NCAP standard) instead of 64Kmph (Improved standard)

Hope these will help you to review the Micro Panda more accurately :)
