I think this is true. Don't give up hope. Government will think about your side as well, just wait. Software Engineering side is very competitive sector now, nowadays there're 4,5 rounds interviews even to get an entry level IT/Programming job. (like sri lankan reality programs) Thousands of fresh IT graduates coming into the industry every year, and many of them even work for under 25,000 salary for years and years. If you start IT job in your 30 (or even 28 or so) you can't expect very high salary at start & you'll be 35yrs old when you make over 100,000 most probably, unless you have super strong skill set or join one of the very few companies that pay well. And don't forget the stress as well, Programming jobs in other countries vs here (except very very few companies) is very different, very difficult to balance work-life. And at the end you'll need years maybe decades to earn back all the money you spent on education if you start your career in Programming in your 30s.
+1
enterprise level coding job/business is 10x stress than a medical doc. So better stay in your path.
But if you are talented can make a lot more than average MBBS
I feel sad and happy at the same time after hearing that.for the first time of my life i agree with this guy

GTRZ ayye not sure if you remember me, i have called you about 5 years ago to add a html5 gaming section on Elakiri.com...sadly i started medicine and couldn't complete the project... You have helped me many times (i was with different EK accounts maybe) over the phone bro those days!!!
Yeah it would be really stressful bro but im really passionate about this, so its manageable (can go on for like 15 hours straight with these game projects etc without much of a resistance at all... I cant work in any other thing like that...so i guess my passion is this)
Yeah the whole reason for me to stay n continue medicine forgetting about my dreams (i wanna try build a game company like nintendo together with a team) is for the stable salary of 100,000-150,000...i would really hate my job as a doctor.
Best time to start would have been 5 years ago but i guess the 2nd best time would be now. I have regretted not dropping out every year. Might regret forever if i don't drop out now :/
THANKS A LOT FOR ALL THE HELPS BRO!!!
I walked into Sliit and asked if there are weekend options. She said the 1st 2 years i will have to do full time. Are you sure bro?

even without a degree, try contacting companies like Arimac and other companies who make games. They will hire you for sure

(Made 100% from scratch without using any assets etc... I did the coding, graphics, music n everything)
Idea is if i put more time into this, i could make really cool stuff that i can make a living of... Hopefully.
I would like to learn more about machine learning and neural networks... Just know some super basic stuff about those... Made a app that can tell you the type of skin rash you have when you take a picture of it (a very limited app)
It's a bad idea to try to get into the gaming industry bro?
Saw the game video, you definitely have very good skill set. very impressive.Have a Dying passion to create Games![]()

You have really good skills, very impressive. But here is the thing. It seems you're very interested about games. So if you go to a game making company you'll be happy and even ready to work 11,12 hours a day no problem. so it means you have get a game developing job not any programming job, that's makes the situation tough. because there are very few game creating companies in sri lanka and most of the it guys (including me) don't get a job in the exact same job we dream about. with the degree + technologies i knew i just joined a company and they just gave me programming task they need me to do, not the one i dream of. learned it well with the experience and with that skill to a another job with good salary, that's how most of the people do. Still to this day I don't work in the programming field i had the passion. When I following the degree i was passionate about IoT & robotics stuff, what I'm doing in now doesn't have that kind of stuff not even in the company i work.Machan suppose i complete a 3 year software engineering degree and continue to do online courses to gain skills over the 3 years... Would it be hard for me to get a 60,000 per month job by im 30?
I started a medical soap business last year, making a few laks now... Hope to expand it n start 2 more businesses... So need the job to make ends meet for 6-12 months if all businesses fail bro... Its okay if dont make over 1lak for some time
Before leaving make sure to give a shot over the head of Nevil Fernando with a broomstick for ruining your lives, dude.

okay...

I think you have already burned around 60lks or so. If you enough money on hand just buy some land in a popular area, Build a 3 story building and rent it out. Don't waste it again by going abroad and things. Career-wise you'll be 30 when you graduate. You gonna have a tough time after that. When you turn 30 your brain stops working to do anything related to study. Just my cents
