Don't go to Australia on student visas nowadays. Because they are tightening all the regulations and migration criteria for each and every visa by limiting the chances. A lot of people come to Aus, change their courses after the first semester, enroll in motor mechanic courses, land their visas in danger, then start doing newly enrolled courses, repeat exams, re-enroll, extend visas, struggle with IELTS, struggle with sponsorship from employers, going into regional areas, spending long periods than expected, sometimes coming back to Melbourne empty handed and re-enroll in courses again, etc

So the best thing is, try to complete a good profile while in Sri Lanka as in education, experience and IELTS and they try to come here on work visas or permanent visas. You will have less pressure, reduced stress and less issues.

    ඔසී ගිහින් ඔසී ඉන්න උන් නම් කවදාවත් මෙහෙ උන්ට එන්න කියන්නේ නැ ඒ තරමට ඉරිසියයි. :P
It is not about jealousy my friend. People create a dream world of Australia and when they step into Australia and start living , they realize it is a few times as hard as we spend our lives in SL. Stress, Pressure, Visa issues, IELTS, Studies, Jobs, Savings, Earnings, Preparing food for themselves, loneliness, etc.

But once they are in Australia after spending a lot of money for universities, they can't turn back. So they decide to fight that war of surviving. That is the time where they do not want another one to go through that very same path of pressure and stress.

That's why others don't want to encourage everyone to come here. Because they know it's not a bed of roses.

A lot of people have returned. Some of them hooked up with PR holder women as the final step and survived. But it's not easy. We can't change the mindset of people in SL. They always think, migrating to another country is like visiting a relative's place in Sri Lanka.

Open your eyes guys. It's not impossible but you need to have a huge luck to get on-board. I know some people who went to Australia in 2008 or so and still roaming around visas without having the actual PR visa. It's not a simple thing. Just assume what will happen to a person who visited Australia when he was 20 and now he is 30 of age but still the same situation with him with no improvement in life except his degree.

But how many degrees can you get in SL within a period of 10 years and also spending even less than quarter of the amount you spent for your degree in Aus.

It all comes down to how well off you are in SL.

I know friend. But people go to Australia with the purpose of settling there with PR visa. No one needs to just study and come back. So what I am telling is, it's waste of your money, time and everything if you have to return SL empty handed.

Please understand my point. People can build a good background of education, experience and English score while in Sri Lanka. Then they can apply for other visas except for student visa.

If they go like that, they can start earning and saving the moment they step in. No course fee burden

It's up to them if they call me "Kuhakaya" Because I do not personally lose anything if someone goes to Australia or not.

But they will lose a lot of things if they decide an unplanned migration without knowing all facts clearly

This is exactly what I have been trying to point out in the past.
SriLankans believe migrating is the one-stop solution for everything..having a rough day at work? - migrate! lol

    WTF man! Forget Australia!
do your 4 year degree and do GRE and TOEFL and Apply for a PHD in a middle level university, and come to US . Once you have the Ph.D. you have a certified path to Green Card and US citizenship.
