Barista? People still go there with laptops? That was the norm some 15 years ago, didn't know it still exists. lol
You go to a posh coffee shop somewhere in Colombo 7, and sit at a corner, and do your stuff. But order something, and after 30 mins or something a waiter will give you a menu again - that's how they say buy more or get lost - and you order something again, and so it goes on.
At the end of the month you will have spent more money than you would if you had bought a fibre connection to your home.
But if you have money, then go to Barista or other similar joints.

why you compare the time and the money spent there with the cost of a fiber connection?
    do they offer free internet?

As far as I know they used to offer the slot for the items you purchased... I used to do the same with some of my friends at mcdonalds... it was for a private project.

Once I saw Java Lounge offering the customers to charge their laptops, and other mobile devices
Well people go to these places when they have time to kill between multiple appointments and going back home/office isn't feasible. Least that is when I would go to a coffeeshop instead of driving back home.

I just meant setting up a proper work space at home vs going to a coffee shop for the atmosphere actually. No they never gave free wifi although free wifi is available for customers at some restaurants but that's not sufficient for office work.

those days, instead of going to posh coffee shops, we went to a shopping mall named Majestic City (aka MC) can spend hours at zero cost.
don't know if it still exist
MC was the most popular, and got demoted to the average shopping row after the arrival of Creascat.
BUT, even before that MC chased away their clientele by building railings on those small wall segments around the open area on all floors. The youth used to sit on those walls and chat for hours, which made it lively but without them nobody stayed on, and the little bit of bench around that pond was barely enough, and the youth stopped coming there.
