Even if you have a basic degree in Engineering and start the career as an Engineer , Few years later you will be moved towards business eventually . So having business side higher study is much more important ........I have seen very very few who is still doing Engineering/Technical related job from my batch ( I passed out 16 years ago ) ....All others have moved into Business side of Technology ......

With a completed Ph.D. and few years of work experience abroad, I think you will get great opportunities in the SL technology industry (good salaries packages+consultant positions).
As I know, currently, people from abroad are hired for these positions (dialog axiata).
