We got to A&E last night. Doctor confirmed that it is Croup and decided that the baby need to be treated with a steroid. Gave two doses with a two hour gap and baby started to recover with his sound within seconds.
I will attach the leaflet for parents in a while.

In a summery, croup is a common infection that can airborne. Baby boys are at higher risk. Our baby only got fever for first two days leaving no clues for us to understand the reason. On the day three he developed in to a barking cough which was very tricky to understand that he was trying to cough. On day four he lost his voice (even though he is still not in an age to speak, we could understand it when he call our names). Even if we had instructed from 111 service to stay calm and give regular paracetamol & ibuprofen, we took him to A&E. The time we took him to A&E was ideal because doctors could easily diagnosed him for Croup. And gave the right medicine to get recovered in no time. Then adviced to continue using regular paracetamol and/or ibuprofen as required for few more days until baby gets no symptoms.

The antibiotic mentality of the South asians is hard to get rid of. If you don't prescribe antibiotics, they change the doctor or get antibiotics from the pharmacy. For any condition whether bacterial or viral - use antibiotics like lollies.

haven't you registered with a doc for the kid? It's up to the doctor to prescribe medicine or not. But it's good to show the kid to the doc
