Thats called cost reflective pricing. Average price of 1 litre of Petrol in India currently is INR 94.72, converts to around LKR 342. Compare this with the price of petrol in SL.

You pay for what you buy. Fuel subsidy is one reason that brought us down.

What is needed is to increase the income of the people, to which our previous politicians failed miserably. Hopefully, NPP will succeed in that.

හරිනම් මාස 3 වැඩිය ස්ටොක් තියාගන්න ස්ටෝරේජ් තියෙන්න ඕන.

Are you telling that petroleum can't bring down cost of the fuel? They don't cut unnecessary expenses & overheads.But they increase the price of the fuel to compensate that.

I don't know the exact operational overheads vs the actual fuel cost of Ceypetco, but I remember sometime back I saw stats posted by Advocata or some think tank. Based on that the overhead costs though amounts to millions are a tiny fraction of your petrol price.

Based on the prices of fuel in surrounding countries I am compelled to believe that the current price fuel in Sri Lanka is cost reflective as per the world fuel prices.

If you find anything that suggest otherwise, please share with us in the forum. I would like to learn more about it. Rather curious how petroleum costing is done and all that.
