PETERITE PASINDU HIRUSHAN RAGGED AT SRI JAYAWARDENAPURA UNIVERSITY, IS IN A VERY VERY CRITICAL CONDITION WITH A BRAIN DAMAGE.
Pasindu Hirushan, studied at St. Peter's College ( Udugapola Branch ), passed A/L with excellent results of 3 As, in 2018 and joined the Sri Jayawardenapura University in this year 2020, in the Faulty of Management & Commerce.
On last Thursday night - 05th March 2020,, some senior students had organized a ragging and a gathering for the 1st Year students, at night in the campus pavillion / hall, at midnight. At the dawn of Friday, 06th March 2020, when these 1st Year students were asked to go down the steps, ragging students have rolled up a tractor tyre on the steps, which had hit Pasindu on his head and Pasindu had collapsed instantly.
Pasindu is in ICU in General Hospital, Colombo in a very very critical situation. His skull is broken and brain is damaged. After 7 hours of an operation, Pasindu is still unconscious.
Pasindu had been an excellent active student at St. Peter's College and the College staff had been very pleased with is academic performances and his active participation in the College activities.
Pasindu is from Kamaragoda, ( off Minwangoda ) is a very active youth member in the Church and is very much involved in the Church activities. His beloved mother passed away in 2018, at a time when his A/L results were out.
We appeal to the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, to make an inquiry about this ragging incident and do a thorough investigation, when he had already assured to the University students that no ragging in the Universities.
