Every country has scammers. The difference is people don't travel around in the west filming every social interaction, because they are not going to let you treat them like subhumans like para suddo do to our people. And their scams are much more subtle and bigger in scale
Ane hutto, this guy was probably praying to god that he would get scammed so he could film it, put it on youtube and make thousands of dollars off adsense. He hit the jackpot with this guy.

Most of the scammers in western cities I have seen are from Asia or east Europe.
Buru pako, this bugger will make a video and leave, and its true he will promote this to get more views. But these will affect badly on tourism.
Sometimes a backpacker may not care it much. But like wealthy tourist won't be happy see those scammers and therefore they will be avoiding Sri Lanka.

I don't care about tourism. Not a single country on earth, even tourist hotspots like Thailand relies on tourism as a major revenue source, it is highly volatile and does not contribute significantly enough to any country's GDP and promotes prostitution, sex trafficking and drugs. I certainly do not appreciate how they dehumanize my countrymen either. So they can fuck right off. Production, manufacturing is what's going to get us out of this mess
