I know of a small kid, who's around 4-5 years old, who can speak fluent English. He does not have any prior knowledge or education nor he's from ''English speaking'' background. His English is very precise and clear, you would not believe that he's a toddler.

Beautiful problem, thanks for posting it here. I've already come across this so I wouldn't drop the answer. Btw, I do feel that perhaps the way you have worded the problem may lead to some confusion. For instance it reads as though the sequence should start from 50 and end in 500 whereas the problem dictates that the length of the sequence is in itself a variable. Maybe consider rephrasing it.
I think you should present the backstory, Pell equations and your thoughts. This is fascinating stuff. Maybe we can bump the old thread or compose a new one.
I have a question though. I'm aware that Ramanujan came up with the fraction based solution practically in an instant. Do you happen to have any idea as to how he approached it mentally? Or is it the usual Ramanujan uber craziness all over again.

That's the beauty of Ramanujan's thinking... All of us would be going on to sum the LHS terms in the series and the RHS terms of the series and get an equation to solve.
The problem was posed to Ramanujan by his friend who is another mathematician, P. C. Mahalanobis, who read it off the Strand magazine as a puzzle. Ramanujan is said to have immediately remarked that he knew not only how to find the particular solution but how to find all solutions and that they
could be written as a continued fraction.
If there are 'm' houses along the street and we are thinking about the 'n' th house, then
1 + 2 + · · · + (n − 1) = (n + 1) + (n + 2) + · · · + m
which can be reduced to
n*(n-1)/2 = m(m+1)/2 - n(n+1)/2
(2m+1)^2 - 2(2n)^2 = 1
Which falls into the form of Pell's equation x^2 - 2y^2 = 1 which can be expanded as a continuous fraction.
Ramanujan must have instantly realised it as he is a number wizard.
