Before 1977 (not 1978!), the head of the executive was the PM. The PM was also an MP (Parliamentarian). But at present, the head of the executive is not an MP.
But, more than that, he is above the law, he has dictatorial powers and all the executive Presidents have exercised such dictatorial powers.
That is why even Chandrika and Mahinda said at their elections that they would bring an end to this system.
What the Opposition now says is the same thing.
