මේ සාකිර් නායික් වහාබිය 2011 දී ශ්‍රි ලංකා රාජ්‍ය අනුග්‍රහයෙන් ඇවිල්ලා අපිට බුද්ධාගම කියලා දෙන්න හැටි. බුදු හාමුදුරුවෝ සර්ව බලධාරි දෙයියන්ව දැනගෙන නොකියා හිටියලූ. කොහොමද මෙහෙම මේ අයට ලංකාවට ඇවිල්ලා ප්‍රසිද්ධයේ බුදු දහම විකෘති කරන්න පුලුවන් වුනේ ? අනිවා රාජ්‍ය අනුග්‍රහය තියෙන්න ඕනේ....

ඔහොම කියන එක හොඳයි බං. මුස්ලිම් උන්ට බුදු දහම බුදු හාමුදුරුවො සර්ව බලධාරී දෙවියන්ව ප්‍රතික්ශේප කරපු කෙනෙක් විදිහට උන්ගෙ චින්තනේට එකතු කරගන්න බෑ. ඉතිං උන්ට ගැලපෙන විදිහට හදල එකතු කරගන්නව. අඩුම ගානෙ ඔහොම අවශෝෂණය කරගැනීමෙන් උන්ගෙ සංස්කෘතියෙ තියෙන ම්ලේච්ඡත්වය වත් නැතිවෙයි.
හින්දු ආගමත් බුදු හාමුදුරුවන්ව ඒ චින්තනේට එකතු කරගත්තෙ විශ්ණු අවතාරයක් විදිහට.
බටහිර හේතුවාදියො බුදු හාමුදුරුවන්ව උන්ගෙ චින්තනේට එකතු කරගන්නෙ මානවවාදියෙක්/පරිසරවාදියෙක්/metaphorically කතා කරපු කපටි හේතුවාදියෙක් විදිහට.

The way people see a tree differs from culture to culture and from time to time. One culture might see a tree as a commodity while another culture would have a deep respect towards trees. So one would see jon the slave and another person would see jon the lord in the same sentence

my point is, books(written sources) influence the most for the long lasting, persistent knowledge.

today what our culture imagine as Buddha is a reflection of many written sources, which were a reflection of what the majority saw as Buddha at that time.

u forgot the part where our current world view plays its part. it's not exactly right to say that books have records on how exactly people saw something back then when the book was written. a book has no meaning without a reader.

world view plays its part in both reading and writing. writer writes about a thing based on his perception of something. his perception is affected by his world view and reader interprets the writing based on his world view.

the same thing can have 2 different meanings to 2 different individuals. 2 writers may write 2 different things regarding the same thing.
