Just saw your reply and I have the same thoughts. There are some questions that a prospective employer should not be asking. Like about whether you have children or your likelihood of having kids. In some countries it could be conceived as discriminatory.
Even not illegal a question like "What ages are your children?" can have an impact. Because the information gleaned from these kinds of direct and possibly offensive questions shouldn't become information on which the employer relies to make a hiring decision.
That's why the HR usually avoids these kinds of questions.
However, if they are already aware that you have kids, they might ask questions on deciding how they should cater for you in terms of addressing any needs & concerns for the benefit of the child.
