I like the way Henry L looking at the things after seeing his last few posts... However what I feel is Indian batsman are more skillful and they have wide range of shots compare to our batters of course except sanga and mathews for some extend. So they do not have to put extra effort to make runs at a faster rate since most of them are free flowing stroke makers by nature. But most of our batters not fall into same category. They are more like accumulators. Picks the runs here and there and wait for the loose ball. That is why we see out batters scoring at more laser pace. I also like to see players are looking for runs and to be positive. Having said that we have to play to our strength. Currently that is what we are doing I think..

Yeah true. that is the reason why Indians score in a higher rate.

BUT I think we should not include so many accumulators in to a team.Yeah it is a test match.but unless in a impossible situation where no result is possible, we should be able play positively. So that is the reason why we can't have so many accumulators in a XI.Players like Kaushal,Thirimanne are never run makers.they are just accumulators who keep one end settled. but then the other end should score runs at a pace.what if both the ends aren't scoring runs?it will only make things bad.I think we should give chances to players like Kithruwan in test XI.There were times when even Mathews got bogged down a lot.but now he has grown up very well.he knows what pace he should be batting. same can happen to people like Karunaratne I believe We should simply have a mix of aggressive and accumulators in a test XI.if not we'll never ever come back in a test match after losing badly in the first inning.

Sad thing I want to say is SLC thinks "Dickwalla" is a run maker... In test cricket, to get runs,you need to have POOL of SHOTs to play wherever necessary....
As you said, Dickwalla has not that Just like KANDAMBY... Both capable but haven't improved... Surely this is the time to DICKWALLA to decide take-off Kandamby style (swapping 2 shots for any ball )... Glad about thisara somewhat....
