This wicket is too greeny machan. See what happen after a loosing a single wicket. It is now a possession. We had all the time in the world to score since NZ all out in the first day. So , whats the hurry ? It is ok to score a 10 runs in 50 balls for an opener in such a wicket. Only thing should care about not giving a wicket to the oppositions in first 15 overs.

But machan see how Sanga and Mathews plays now.SR 50+ and 60+. They are playing in the same pitch. Yeah Mathews got a great ball and got out nothing to do. Yeah no need of hurry but we can't get bogged down in test matches specially when playing against quality teams.Yes NZ got out in the first day.and what if they get 400+ in the second inning?you can't expect our bowlers to get 10 wickets under 250 all the time right?then what happens, we'll only have time to lose or draw the match if we bat well.then what?we'll lose the series. So what is the point of getting 10 of 50? unless it a unplayable pitch (which is 99% isn't the case) you should be able to score runs at a pace.sure not at a SR of 100.but definitely not at SR of 7 odd either. every commentator says though this pitch is greeny, it is not a pitch to get all out for 221 after being 141/2. I am simply saying Silva is too defensive regardless of the pitch machan

Need someone like Roshen Silva who has the temperament. Also Kaushal's dogged low scores need to come under the scrunity too."

I am also thinking why they are not giving a chance to the young Roshen Silva

See how Sanga plays now. if it is there to hit you should hit it regardless of the situation and the pitch. What if Kaushal or Thirimanne would have done at this situation? they would have thought, Oh we are 4 down and then we shpuld block block leave leave.and then what?gets out after wasting so many balls and getting pretty much nothing!

"Difficult to imagine what life would be like for Sri Lanka if Sanga retired from Test cricket at this stage of his career. Even by his own lofty standards, he has been better than ever. Hope he plays Tests for at least another year."

I think plan of SL to play today without loosing much wickets. Score the runs on the 2nd day . But plan not worked.
Silva is defensive in nature machan. It is his class. We don't have samaraweera or Mahela to play long innings.
One opener should defensive in every test innings for team success.

Brathwaite, Lathem, Silva all are same class openers

We are pretty much screwed in tests and odi's, at least for a year and half. Still we are suffering from slc forcefully retiring Thilan Samaraweera
