When we looked back in past few matches i definitely see one thing, that is we try to be safe by not taking a risk with bowling or batting and ending up in a position that cant even rectify, even by taking a risk .
this is stupidity
We have a clear question paper to answer and let go ppl some how even with a special Request if not this might be a group stage exit.
In batting
1/ are we capable of chasing down o300+ scores with both dimuth n thiri in their normal cause?
2/ do we even stand with a chance to repeat 300+ chase? Or posting ?Cause once might happen with an extraordinary performance out of blue.
3/ can we let dimuth n thiri to eat up deliveries ? Do we have fire power to catch those up and even think of a score beyond 300 ?
4/what are we thinking about by having a batter like dimuthu or thiri who brings dead bat for a defensive shotc? And cant play big shots ? At least they looks like they are not going to clear.
5/every other teams have openers who put bowlers into pressure but we have batters who put others into pressure.can we let this happen every day? It can be sanga or dili playing a slow inning Once a while but these two its every day practice.
6/ whats the no 6 batsmans capabilities needs to be? What kind of ?
7/ are we accommodating thisara and jeewan cause we konw thiri n dimuth gonna eat up deliveries we want quick scorers?
8/ what is the maximum required rate we can wait before making some aggression
9/is it only slog over midwicket is a big shot? what are we going to do with bouncers or short deliveries we gonna get in slog overs?
In bowling
1/every team uses bouncer to suprise in slog overs n prevent batsmen getting in to a sloging position do we have bowlers to do so?
2/ are we trying to make up overs in middle overs from Part timers rather thn thinking abt wickets?
3/ is our long time strategy of containing runs gonna work with new rules?
4/ what maxium no of overs a bowler can be bowl with kind of intense n pressure in slog overs2?3?
4/ are we trying to bowl just economical overs from strikers just to compensate runs given away by part timers?
5/ with restrictions and short boubdries nz has can we bowl slog overs just one option in mind
Our selection committe is hilarious picking up an wc opner cause of one test score and then saying only thing he should do is playing till 15 overs.if he do so we wil defa gonna loose it cause its not 1990-2000 even in aus n nz people will score at a better rate or at least guys who take time has abiliry to accelarate and play big shots than dead bat players like we have
And we are trying to make up for slow batters by playing all rounders who not even gonna get us runs that they leake
every batter comes when required rate is over 9. For chandimal jeewan n thiri they have no option but to hit . though we were 215/3 last n 145/3 this we were behind n by big margin when u need 9 Its a call for a collapse we might had a chance if we were 200/5
