A TransAsia flight crashed in the Keelung River with 58 people on board after taking off from Taipei's Songshan Airport.

Passengers have had to scramble from the submerged wreckage of a flight that crashed in a river in Taipei, Taiwan.

TransAsia Flight 235 crashed in the Keelung River with 58 people on board after taking off from Taipei's Songshan Airport at 10:54 a.m. on Wednesday. The flight, which was en route to the island region of Kinmen, lost contact with flight controllers at 10:55 a.m., according to Channel News Asia. The flight was expected to land just before midday.

The dramatic moment the craft descended from the sky and smashed into a bridge was captured on a dashcam video. Incredibly, so far, there have been no reported fatalities in the crash. More than 10 people are waiting to be rescued after suffering injuries, according to local media reports.

The plane has been identified as a French-made twin-engine turboprop ATR 72 with a two-pilot air crew.

This is the second incident for TransAsia Airways in the past year. The airline was involved in a fatal crash in July, 2014, when Flight 222 attempted to avoid typhoon conditions and crashed on the island of Penghu. From the 54 people aboard the flight, 48 died in the crash. An initial report in to the crash was released in December, with the final report expected in October this year.

All these kind of circumstances are expected when employing a flight. So the Budgets are made accordingly I guess. - This is only what i think ok, 'cos I have never heard a passenger had to pay for such expences in this kind of emergencies
