mehe cloud systemWell, not bad. This is known as ground plane antenna. But you need high gain antenna for this purpose.
There are two types mainly
1. J-pole (omni-directional)
2. Moxon (Directional)
I think in your case, J-pole would be the right one. This can be constructed using ½ inch copper tubes. You can buy these tubes from AC repair shops.
Take 125MHz as the center frequency (so that you can listen to all from 118-137) Also you need RG 58 (50 ohms) cable. From second Cross Street you can buy this. 1m would cost you Rs 55-80

These are the VHF frequencies use in air traffic control in Sri Lanka
118.700 BIA Tower
121.900 Ground Operation -Katunayake
119.100 Ratmalana Tower
124.900 Colombo Radar - Having its centre at Ratmalana Airport premises. Antenna fixed at Piduruthalagala mountain
132.400 Colombo Director – Operation centre at Katunayake
As soon as an aircraft reaches (South East sector) approximately 200 NM (VHF communication is not capable beyond this range) Colombo radar hands it over to HF. This centre (Colombo Radio) and the Colombo radar (124.900 MHz) are sharing the same building at the Ratmalana airport premises.
These are the main frequencies use in Colombo Radio
11285/6556 (11.285MHz 6.556MHz) You can listen to this ratio by tuning these frequencies in your short wave radio. As these channels use (single side band) you need a BFO (Beat frequency oscillator) or a radio with SSB. However, in a short wave radio still you can listen without having SSB BFO facility but hard to understand clearly as it uses different modulation
CPDLC – will be used as an alternative to HF (High Frequency) But some aircrafts doesn’t have this facility onboard. They rely on HF. Some prefer to use HF to cut their operational costs (CPDLC is a commercial service and need to pay)
I admire your work and thankful to every one of you for attempts taken to take aviation another step closer to Sri Lankans.
