What about this idea.? Having a rich vocabulary alone will not do much good. We need to use it everyday to get rid of these issues.

කතා කරද්දී හිර වෙනවා. ඕනේ කරන වචනේ කටට එන්නේ නැ. සමහර වචන දන්නේ නැ. වෙලාවකට ලජ්ජය් වැරදුනොත් කියල. සිංහල අපිට ඉන්ග්ලිෂ් බැරි උනාට කමක් නැ කියල හිතෙනවා වෙලාවකට.

But in my experience, even if we start to talk with another person for the above purpose, we run out of things to talk after introducing ourselves. Got any suggestions???

Actually this is a great idea who need to improve their knowledge. so i would like to give you few tips that i used and currently using.

to start speaking
1. forget grammar
2. follow accent that you like and watch movies and stuff that native people who speak
3 watch movies- i must say watch same movie 3 times-->first time without subtitles, second time with english subtitles and finally repeat subtitles with em.
4 build your personality.

i will put much more tips soon.
