Machan im also a APIIT student... the course contents are good... but it depends on the teacher too machan... how much you like the subject if the lecturer screws you up machan kelama thama...
and really you need to do self studying... and i have not gone to any other library but APIIT indeed has a great library with loadz of programming/web development/software engineering/algorithms/project management (ok everything related to computing and business) books...
The only downside of APIIT is that it is quite expensive, and its getting too crowded with the new intakes...

Machan believe it or not APIIT eke COM and SE kiyala dekama almost the same...
COM and SE wala subjects dekak thunak ehaata mehaata wenawa... so actually if you do one degree its like you have ALMOST got the other too

and SE is all about the logical side of the program... creating efficient programs... its towards designing efficient and effective algorithms side ekata...

COM is all about programming .... up to now the stuff we have learned are C, C++, Java, VB .NET (VB and C dannawa kiyanne C# dena gaththa wage thama) so C# ,PHP, JavaScript, CSS
Other softwares we have learned are MS SQL Server, MySQL, Flash and ActionScript, ASP .NET...
But machan mewa mama igena gatta ewa... ASP .NET and C# are languages i learned my self.. so you have to do on your own too

PS : Other extra packages include a lot of Counter Strike, NFS, C & C Generals and Zero Hour and loadz and loadz of movies

i want to point out two things that i indeed like about APIIT.

First thing is that the formal dress... you cannot come to APIIT with T-shirts, denims, sandals and all other types of casual wear... this will make the students naturally get used to wear formally for the office (when you work )...

2nd is the project submission deadlines... If it is 15th August @ 5pm your deadline , SUBMIT the project before that! Because the projects will not be accepted after that! Well you can submit an EC form, but believe me it is easy to submit the project than go through all that trouble!

Well oops there is 3rd point too, the academic honesty! You do not want to copy from the internet and paste it in your documentation! Proper citing and referencing is very crucial!!!
