It will not only come down to US$500 but it will come down all the way to US$266 in 4-5 months. I don't know if these are rumours, but those price cuts are already planned to face the annihilation from AMD Barcelona CPUs.

It's their next major CPU architecture. But it's a long way due. Beside, AMD wont' be releasing higher clocked CPU till the architecture goes through few revisions.

Current INTEL CPUs are no match for AMD CPUs (FX or X2 or even Quad FX). Intel rules at the moment!

Mine is an X800GTO. Far better than a 6600GT. Performance wise equal to a 7600GT at the current state. I can play NFS Carbon at max details at 1280x960.

Geforce 6 family's SM3.0 performance is crappy compared to gefroce 7 family's.
