this is simple, door opening and door closing are vectors since they have a direction. So 1/2(door open) = -1/2(door close). So ultimately door open = -door close which is correct.

didnt get it

opening and closing of doors are does not happen the same direction, and they happen 180 degrees opposite directions. door half open means not door half closed in this manner, there signes are different.
