Oscar delighted with first Brazil goal

The Chelsea midfielder celebrated his opener at the ground of former rivals Gremio by pointing to the pitch and shouting "I'm here" during the 3-0 win over France.
Chelsea star Oscar has expressed his delight after scoring his first goal for Brazil in a 3-0 friendly win over France.

In the Selecao's final warm-up game ahead of the Confederations Cup, the midfielder opened the scoring in the 54th minute by slotting the ball past Tottenham and Les Bleus goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. The win marked Brazil's first victory over France since 1992, and Oscar feels it was the perfect preparation ahead of Saturday's tournament opener against Japan.

"At halftime we talked about continuing to playing in the same manner and the goal would come," Oscar told reporters after the game. "This result is so important to give confidence to the team for the Confederations Cup."

The match took place at the Gremio Arena in Porto Alegre, which did not stop the former player for Internacional - which is Gremio's rival - from pointing to the pitch and shouting "I'm here, I'm here" when celebrating his goal.

"I told my wife that if I was to score a goal at Porto Alegre I would say I am from here," Oscar explained.

De Bruyne & Lukaku ready for Chelsea's first team, says Mourinho

The Belgian duo spent last season out on loan but the new boss believes both players are ready to be compete for a first-team place at Stamford Bridge next season.Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho claims Kevin de Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku will be part of his squad at Stamford Bridge next season.

Lukaku spent last term on loan at West Brom, where he scored 17 goals in 35 Premier League appearances, while De Bruyne shone in midfield for Werder Bremen during his season-long stint with the Bundesliga club.

Both players have been linked with loan moves ahead of the new campaign -- with De Bruyne part of a speculated swap to Bayer Leverkusen for Andre Schurrle -- but Mourinho revealed in his first Chelsea press conference that the two Belgium internationals are ready for first-team football at Stamford Bridge.

"First of all I want to meet them. And I think it's fair that the players are the first ones to know about their future and to know about their future by their manager and their club and not by the media," Mourinho said. "I can say that [De Bruyne and Lukaku] are the profile of player that Chelsea invested a lot in the past, and I think it's my work and my contribution to extract the best out of that investment, and I think both of them are ready to come and are ready to be part of our squad."

Alderweireld on Liverpool link: 'It strokes my ego'

The Belgium international has invited interest from abroad and revealed that although he favors a move to an established club, Champions League football is not essential.Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld admits he is flattered by interest from Liverpool and would welcome a move to the Premier League.

The defender collected a third consecutive Eredivisie title with the Amsterdam outfit last season, but, amid reported interest from the Anfield outfit and AS Roma, he revealed he would consider leaving Holland this summer.

"It's nice that you're named at clubs like that. It strokes my ego," Alderweireld told De Telegraaf. “We have to wait and see which clubs become more concrete. In the following weeks we'll see what will happen. The transfer window is still open for a long time."

The 24-year-old Belgian has played at both center back and right back and explained that while he would favor a move to an established club, Champions League football is not essential for him.

"England and Germany are great competitions," Alderweireld continued. "I think I can make my next step there. I've seen Thomas Vermaelen and Jan Vertonghen make good moves.

"It would be a bonus to play in the Champions League, but it's not a must. If you look at a club such as Tottenham Hotspur, where Jan Vertonghen now plays, that's also amazing.

"I want to go to a club where I can play football and where my style of play fits. I don't want to play in the bottom of a competition. I only want to leave Ajax for a beautiful club. Otherwise I stay in Amsterdam."

Vertonghen partnered Alderweireld in the center of defense at Ajax before moving to Tottenham, and believes that both he and Twente attacker Nacer Chadli are ready for a move to the Premier League.

"They're players who definitely can deal with the level and I hope that they can make the step this summer," Vertonghen said. "They are ready. I know the qualities of Toby very well. He would fit perfectly."

Suarez has been unfairly judged, says Cavani

The Napoli striker feels the Liverpool man has had a tough time in England and says he does not know if he will stay on MerseysideNapoli striker Edinson Cavani believes Uruguay teammate Luis Suarez has been unfairly judged since his arrival in England.

The Liverpool forward's two-and-a-half seasons in the Premier League have been littered with controversy, namely being found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra and also being handed a 10-game ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

The striker has expressed a desire to leave Liverpool this summer citing the media's intrusion into his private life as a decisive factor, but Cavani feels the subsequent media furor has been unjust.

"These things happen in life," Cavani told Perform. "When you are on the pitch you are really excited and you have to deal with some situations you are not used to. It's not fair to judge a person for one thing on the pitch when there is a match going on and you are extra excited, sometimes you make a mistake.

"These things happen, and what’s important is that [Suarez] recognized he made a mistake."

Cavani, whose own future is also undecided, rates Suarez as one of the most talented strikers in the game and feels the Premier League approach suits him, but is unsure where he will be plying his trade next term.

"Playing beside Luis Suarez you get used to it [media attention] over time," Cavani said. "We play for the same national team, and that is awesome, because we are playing around the world for our teams and we share the national team's color. He is a great player and he has some great qualities, he is very well known around the world and to play alongside him is wonderful.

"[An exit from Liverpool] depends on many things. I think English football suits him, because it is the kind of play that he likes, but in the end it is a personal decision. He is the only person who knows where he will play; even I don't know what my future will be. So I can’t think about other people."

Agent: Thiago Silva staying at PSG

The Brazilian had been linked with a move to Barcelona but Paulo Tonietto says his client will be staying in France - regardless of Carlo Ancelotti's future. The agent of Thiago Silva has insisted that the defender will not leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer despite reported interest from Barcelona.

The Brazil defender moved to the Parc des Princes from AC Milan last year and was a key member of the side as they won Ligue 1 and reached the Champions League quarterfinals.

However, his long-term future in France has been the subject of speculation, with coach Carlo Ancelotti heavily linked with Real Madrid and a move to Catalunya being mooted, but Paulo Tonietto is adamant he is staying put.

"Is it true that Thiago would be willing to shrink his salary just to play at Barca? That possibility doesn't exist, Thiago will not go to Barcelona," he told Tuttomercatoweb. "Will he stay at PSG? Yes, he will continue his career in France, with or without Ancelotti."

Thiago Silva made 34 appearances during his debut season at PSG.

Mourinho: I always trust my work

The Portuguese boss has been officially unveiled at Stamford Bridge for a second spell with the west London outfit, describing himself as "very happy" at a club he already loves.New Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho had his official unveiling at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

The Portuguese was confirmed as Rafael Benitez's successor last Tuesday, confirming one of the game's worst-kept secrets, and Mourinho says his return to the team he won two Premier League titles with was an easy decision due to his love for the club.

"I'm the happy one," he told reporters. "Time flies. It looks like it was a couple of days ago but it was nine years ago and since then a lot of things happened in my professional life. I have the same nature. I am the same person. I have the same heart. I have the same kind of emotions related to my passion for football and for my job. But I am, of course, a different person.

"In this moment if I have to describe myself, I describe myself as a very happy person and it is the first time I arrived at a club where I already love the club. Because before, I was arriving and I have to build emotional relation, and I honly (learn) how to love the club after some time there. This time is a new kind of feeling because this is the first time I am arriving to a club where I love it already."

Mourinho guided Chelsea to a first top-flight title success in his debut season in 2004-05, breaking a number of English football records in the process, including a 95-point haul and just 15 goals conceded.

The 50-year-old added a second title the following term, and ended up with six pieces of silverware before his departure in Sept. 2007. But he is now aiming to better that haul upon confirmation of his new four-year stay.

"In football you never know but I want to believe it's possible," he continued. "I always trust my work. In this case I know many of the people that belong to the club and I know the kind of mentality and ambition people have. My career was built and raised on success. I was able to reach success and win trophies and to let different kinds of legacy.

"So I have to believe on that and that's a normal message I want to go with my players which is work hard, work with quality. The club is much more important than ourselves. We are nobody compared with the club. And, of course, working well, normally success arrives."

Mourinho was sure to dismiss rumors regarding the sudden end to his first tenure, insisting the decision was mutual between himself and owner Roman Abramovich with no break down in relations.

The former Real Madrid and Inter manager does, though, feel the events of six years ago have paved the way for his return.

"That's not true," he replied when questioned on a tense relationship with Abramovich. "As a start, that's not true. I read and I keep listening that I was fired, I was sacked, we had a complete break up of relationships... that was not true. Many people didn't believe that but it was a mutual agreement. At the time we thought that was the best for both of us, for me and for the club.

"It was a sad moment. Of course it was a sad moment, but I don't regret that decision because after that I went to Inter, where I had probably the best moment of my career. And after that I went to Madrid, where we have still the record of the best team in Spanish history and for Chelsea things went well too."

Mourinho went on to say that his return would not be possible if he and Abramovic didn't have a relationship.

"It would be impossible for me to be here today if we had no relation, if we had real problems," he said. "And I think I'm back because we feel that we are in a moment of my professional life and in the case of the owner, also a moment of his career as an owner.

"I think we are in probably the best moments of our career if you can call it that and ready to work together again and in much better conditions this time to succeed and have what this club wants which is stability."

Malouda: Mourinho will bring titles to Chelsea

The 32-year-old, who was released by the club earlier in June, maintains that Mourinho's Premier League experience will give him an advantage ahead of the new season.Former Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda believes Jose Mourinho will turn the club into a title contender once again.

The Frenchman was Mourinho's penultimate signing before the Portuguese left Stamford Bridge in Sept. 2007 after falling out with the club's owner Roman Abramovich.

After spells at Inter and Real Madrid, the 50-year-old has returned for a second stint at Chelsea and Malouda feels the club will make significant progress next season.

"He is a good coach and will take Chelsea to the top," Malouda told Goal. “Though Mourinho did not fare too well at Madrid he is the right man for the Chelsea job and can push the club to win more titles.

"He has been there before and he knows the players, the fans, the management and of course the Premier League terrain so well, so it will not be a problem for him."

Malouda was released by Chelsea this summer after being forced to train with the youth team for the whole of last season. Despite his relegation from the first team, Malouda says he is proud of his achievements at Stamford Bridge.

"Jose Mourinho knew about what happened and we have already talked," he said. "I am leaving this great club with my head high as I have done my part. I will always remember my time there. It was great to achieve a lot with them.

"I won league trophies, Champions League, FA Cup, and other trophies here. I was not surprised when my name came on the released players' list as I had been frozen out of the first team during my last year."

Cavani: I will discuss my future after Confederations Cup

The Napoli forward has discussed speculation about his next move and insists he is only currently focusing on upcoming matches with Uruguay.Edinson Cavani has revealed he will not discuss his Napoli future until after he has played in the Confederations Cup with Uruguay.

Cavani, who scored 29 goals in Serie A to emerge as the league's top marksman, has attracted admiring glances from a number of top clubs in Europe including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Despite the interest in him, the 26-year-old striker says he will not contemplate his future options until after his international duties are over.

"Everything is uncertain at the moment. Today I have a contract with Napoli, but on the other hand there are some conversations going on and now things are a bit dynamic," he told OMNISPORT.

"What I know is that I belong to Napoli and that I'm thinking about my national team because we have a very difficult qualifying game away to Venezuela and we also have a difficult Confederations Cup tournament to deal with. After all these commitments I'll think about what is going to happen."

Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis has already made it clear that the club will only let Cavani go if his 63 million euro release clause is triggered, but the attacker himself is unaware of any concrete offers made by potentially interested bidders.

"I don't know if they [Chelsea] have made an offer for me," he continued. "I am quiet because throughout my career I have had to deal with speculation that I have signed for another team when there wasn't any truth about that.

"People have talked about a lot of money, a sale or a loan - I am used to all that. To be honest, I am thinking about now. There are more things than football and sometimes we have to be focused on that. I have to have my feet on the ground. I am happy and quiet."

Cavani has a contract with Napoli until the summer of 2017.

Manchester United can have Robert Lewandowski

    167812885-1866888.jpg

MANCHESTER UNITED can have Robert Lewandowski — as long as they stump up £25.5million. His club Borussia Dortmund have put the blocks on an expected move to European champs Bayern Munich.

And that leaves the way open for United to land one of the game’s most in-demand strikers. But United will not be happy at the asking price after being offered Lewandowski for just £18m last season. His value soared following his four-goal heroics against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

The Pole, 24, who has only a year left on his deal, announced last week he was expecting to move to a ‘club of his choice’ in a matter of days. That was believed to be Bayern but Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke said: “Robert Lewandowski will definitely not transfer to Bayern Munich in 2013.

“This is final. We have informed Robert and his advisers. The Bayern case is closed because there was no written offer. “I am not saying he will definitely stay but he will certainly not be playing for Bayern in 2013.”

Gareth Bale could leave Tottenham for Real Madrid for £85m

    bale_1743721a.jpg

REAL MADRID last night confirmed they will not baulk if Tottenham demand £85million for Gareth Bale.President Florentino Perez has smashed the world transfer record four times to bring in Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Asked if he would hesitate to pay £85m for Bale, Perez insisted he is ready to break the bank to land the Welshman. He told Marca newspaper: “For those players and investments that generate and produce income, you can give everything in life.

“I showed in 2000 that with those players you change the dynamic and go from losing to winning.“But we don’t speak of Bale so much because he plays at a friendly club to us and they will be annoyed if we speak. I know their chairman well and he doesn’t like these things.”

Spurs are desperate to keep winger Bale, 23, for at least one more season.
Perez also has Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and Napoli hitman Edinson Cavani on his hitlist. He added: “We have a very high bar but someone will come in for sure.”

    Gazidis: Arsenal target top-class talent

    arsenewenger_576x324.jpg

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has insisted Arsene Wenger will spend money, but only on top-class talent.Arsenal endured another campaign of toil, which extended their trophyless run to eight seasons, and Wenger came under fire for failing to bring in the talent needed to challenge at the top of the Premier League.

Supporters have had to watch on as the likes of Robin van Persie, Cesc Fabregas and Gael Clichy, to name only three, have been sold and have been frustrated by the standard of players brought in to the Emirates. In the early weeks of the summer, the Gunners have been linked with a host of big names including Wayne Rooney, Gonzalo Higuain and the possible return of Fabregas. Arsenal fans have seen this in previous years and at a meeting of the club's supporters' group and shareholders, Gazidis was probed on their summer transfer plans.

Gazidis, who recently insisted the club could afford to make a move for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, said: "Arsene is not scared to spend money but he has to believe they are top-class players who will add to the squad. Can I guarantee he will spend all of the money available to him? That depends on the talent."Arsene has done an outstanding job to make sure Arsenal stay in the mix with the top teams - not where we want to be, but in the mix - on a relatively limited budget."

Arsenal secured a place in the top four on the final day of last season and Gazidis has made it clear that is not good enough. He added: "We have been consistent, in that we haven't slid backwards or gone forwards. Now we need to go forwards. It is not enough to watch a video of a last-minute scramble to get over the line and into fourth place."Gazidis also stuck up for the club's majority shareholder, Stan Kroenke, whose reticence to comment publicly on club matters has also been a source of frustration for Gunners fans.“What Stan Kroenke has not done is put debt on the club, taken any dividends or management fees out of the club," he said.“We are fortunate in that he has not treated the club as his own personal fiefdom, as a reflection of his ego and as a personal playground. We haven’t seen a lot of the negatives that come with much of the ownership around the world. We feel our ownership situation is healthy and sustainable.”

The Arsenal Supporters' Trust has produced a report which recommends changes be made at board level, and Gazidis acknowledged that a renewing of the club's hierarchy was necessary.“We know the suggestions around governance,” he said when asked if he had read the report.“It is not a secret that we have an ageing board that will need refreshing. The board acknowledges and understands that, and board succession is something we are looking and thinking about.“It will be done the same way as Arsene Wenger’s contract — quietly, and at the right time we will make announcements.”

    Galatasaray open to Sneijder sale

    wesleysneijdergalatasaray_576x324.jpg

Galatasaray president Unal Aysal has told suitors that Wesley Sneijder would be available for transfer if the club’s valuation is met.

Sneijder, 29, joined Gala in the January transfer window and helped them win the Turkish Super Lig and reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Chelsea and Tottenham are reportedly interested in the former Ajax, Real Madrid and Inter Milan midfielder’s services and will be encouraged by Aysal’s admission that he could be sold, although no firm interest has been registered.

“I have been following the rumours about Sneijder, but we have not received an offer for him,” Aysal told Turkish newspaper Sabah.“If an offer in the region of €15 million (£12.75 million) comes in, we might decide to sell him though.”Meanwhile, after losing the captaincy of the Netherlands to Manchester United’s Robin van Persie, Sneijder is intent on recapturing the form that saw him help Oranje to the 2010 World Cup final.

He told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf: “It was a pretty painful announcement. Not just because I never saw this coming, but also because I have always given my all in the role as captain.“I will have to accept this, though. It was a huge blow for me. The coach told me that I should focus on myself for now and use my energy to regain top fitness.

“I was planning to do that any way, though. I am more eager than ever before.
“I know that I have not shown enough recently and that I will have to step it up a notch. But I am confident that I can reach my level from the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 again.”
