David Moyes tired of talking about Wayne Rooney's future at Manchester United

    wayne-rooney-manchester-united-football_2970660.jpg

David Moyes has stated it is 'getting repetitive' talking about Wayne Rooney after reiterating the Manchester United striker is not for sale and has also reacted to reports of any interest in Thiago Alcantara.

Rooney has been forced to fly home from United's tour of Asia and Australia due to a hamstring injury, which is now likely to sideline the England international for up to three weeks. He has been strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford after former manager Sir Alex Ferguson claimed that Rooney asked to leave United towards the end of last season.

Reports have suggested Chelsea feel they are in pole position to sign Rooney, but Moyes remains determined to keep the player with the Premier League champions."Unless I was speaking double Dutch, I've said that Wayne Rooney is not for sale," said Moyes at a press conference in Bangkok."I have answered lots of questions about Wayne and it's getting repetitive. I don't want to talk about it all day."I have really covered all the things on Wayne.

"You mustn't forget Manchester United is about a team, not any one individual."In lots of ways I am only interested in the team and some of the questions are reverting back to stuff I covered last week."Earlier on Friday, when Jose Mourinho was asked about any interest in signing Rooney, the Chelsea manager said: "I cannot speak about players from other teams. But you know me..."I always say what I think and he is a player I like very much. I cannot say more than that.

"Being fast and direct, I like him very much. But he is a Manchester United player."When asked if Mourinho was being mischievous, Moyes replied: "I don't think so. People are entitled to talk about good players."I am being asked plenty about Wayne so I am sure Jose will be getting asked about lots of players as well.

"It is hard to keep repeating myself - but I will do. Wayne is a Manchester United player and will remain that."Meanwhile, Moyes also confirmed that Rooney's hamstring injury will keep him out for "two to three weeks" and not a month as first thought.

"We didn't expect it," he said. "We wouldn't have brought him if we had known. But once we had it checked, what would be the point in taking a risk?
"We could have kept him and taken him to all the other places but he wouldn't have played the games. We thought for the benefit of the player, the best thing to do was get him back right away and let him get on with his rehabilitation.
"We will keep his work up. With a hamstring injury you can do lots of work in the swimming pool and some work in the gym.

"And when we return from this tour we still have the game in Stockholm, the Community Shield and Rio (Ferdinand)'s testimonial as well."It is really important we get players fit for those games and Wayne should only be out for two or three weeks."He was in really good shape. He came back in a good fighting weight."Moyes is also busy trying to bring in new signings and was non-committal on whether he wanted to sign Alcantara, with the Barcelona midfielder now seemingly poised for a reunion with Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich.

Asked about Thiago Alcantara, he commented: "I never said he was a target.
"We're on with targets that we are chasing at this moment in time. There are people we are actively chasing and, at this moment in time, we're happy with how things are going."

    Lahm: Gotze made logical move

    285041_heroa.jpg

The 29-year-old feels the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder does not deserve to be criticised for making the switch to the Allianz Arena Philipp Lahm believes that Mario Gotze made the right choice in leaving Borussia Dortmund for Bayern Munich this summer.

The right-back, 29, captained the Bavarians to the treble last season and says that the club are a great place for young players to take the next step in their careers.

"If you’re a truly great player, then you belong to the best club in Germany and that is Bayern Munich. His move was a logical step," he told reporters.

"If you have the chance to go to Bavaria, then you take the chance, especially as a young player, they use it to develop themselves."

Lahm is excited to see what this season has in store for the club under new coach Pep Guardiola and hopes to enjoy the same success the side did last season.

"We have to work in the coming weeks to achieve better coordination. We are working on correcting the little things, however, we are not re-inventing our game.

"Again we have very good opportunities to win titles. We have certainly not gotten worse since last year, but the quality in the Champions League is extremely high. In addition, we are now the hunted. Everyone wants to beat the defending champions. It is exciting."

Lahm also gave his outlook on the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and discussed the possibility of whether it would be his last as a player.

"The teams from South America will have an advantage because of the climate. Brazil are one of the favourites, but we will compete again," he added.

"I am now almost 30, the best age for a defender. I feel fit and am almost never hurt, but so much can happen in four years. Allow me to surprise you."

Milan better than Juventus, says Niang

    295154_heroa.jpg

The forward is confident that the Rossoneri can compete for the Scudetto this year, saying they may even be better than the current title holders now M’Baye Niang believes AC Milan are a better team than Juventus heading into the new season.

The Rossoneri finished two places and 15 points behind Serie A champions Bianconeri in 2012-13 but the 18-year-old, who joined San Siro last summer, wants to help usurp the back-to-back Scudetto winners this campaign.

"We hope to do better than Juventus [this season]. I think we are better, but let’s see what happens. We can achieve great things," he told reporters.

"I want to stay at Milan for as long as possible. I am working for the new season and I will 100 per cent stay with Milan. I have to do my job, score goals and grow as a player.

"Massimiliano Allegri tells me I am young and need to keep working to improve. We have a great rapport.2

Niang has set specific goals for himself as he looks to play a bigger role in Milan's first team, including challenging the likes of Mario Balotelli in attack.

The Frenchman added: "I work hard because I want to become stronger than Balotelli. He gives me a lot of advice, as do Kevin-Prince Boateng and Philippe Mexes. I can play as a centre-forward or support striker, as long as I get to play."

Perfect Ronaldo is best in the world, says Perez

    293099_heroa.jpg

The Real Madrid president has branded Kaka a "phenomenon" and has high hopes that Carlo Ancelotti can bring the Blancos the long-awaited Decima Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is confident that fans are yet to see the peak of "best player in the world" Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portugal forward, 28, is yet to sign extend his contract beyond 2015 with the club, triggering suggestions that he might depart this summer for Manchester United or, more recently, Monaco.

The lack of a new deal does not bother the Blancos chief, however, who insists that the attacker has a huge future with the club.

"He is the face of the team and the best player in the world," he told Gol Caracol on Friday. "He is going to give us much more satisfaction for his talent, ambition and enthusiasm; and now he has reached a perfect relationship with the fans.

"We are yet to see the best of him. He can be the best of all time."

Perez is also keen to see Kaka, who has been linked with a move away in recent transfer windows, return to his best at the Santiago Bernabeu, and he remains confident that the Brazil international can rediscover his Ballon d'Or-winning form.

He added: "He is a phenomenon. He was injured after the [2010] World Cup and had surgery on his knee and then [Mesut] Ozil came and took place. But he is one of the greats.

"On Twitter, after Cristiano, he has the most followers [of any footballer]. He has charm and thrills the fans. I am optimistic that under Carlo Ancelotti, who knows him well [from AC Milan], he will go back to being the magical Kaka from when we first signed him."

With the arrival of Ancelotti from Paris Saint-Germain, Perez is hoping the club can finally claim the elusive 10th top European trophy this coming campaign.

"This season will begin a new phase following the departure of Jose Mourinho," he said. "We have another coach, who is also very demanding and we are very happy.

"Our signings are young and hungry, which is necessary so that the big players don’t always get too comfortable. And the mix will make the quality of Real Madrid prevail over everyone.

"We will see if we will win the Decima, which continues to elude us. Because, as the first winners of the tournament, it is something we have deep within our DNA; it is a competition in which we thrive.

"The Champions League nights are magical for the atmosphere and excitement they generate. And to win the title you have to be lucky, which we were not in the last two season. Madrid have to be able to beat everyone.

"We must not forget about La Liga, though. We have to play well, even when we win by a lot, because otherwise you hear whispers in the Bernabeu. The fans are very loyal, but blow cold or hot. They are very demanding."

    Villas-Boas happy with Sandro recovery

    117512_heroa.jpg

The Brazil midfielder has been out with a knee injury for six months but will return to first-team training for the club's tour of Hong Kong Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas says he is pleased with how both Sandro and Younes Kaboul have recovered from their long-term injuries.

The Brazilian midfielder has been sidelined since January after undergoing knee surgery, while the French defender has not featured for Spurs since August 18 due to a knee problem.

"Sandro hit six months last week and we are on plan, he’s made an excellent recovery and we’re very happy with him,” Villas-Boas told the club's official website.

"One more week and he’ll join the group and he will also join us for full training in Hong Kong."

Kaboul suffered a further setback during his return last season in April, but Villas-Boas has revealed the 27-year-old is taking part in full training without any problems.

He continued: "It’s a very good start to pre-season for both players.

"It’s great for Younes after a year out to come back to training and have double sessions with no problems."

Rapid Vienna 1-2 PSG: Gameiro & Pastore save face for Parisiens

    214725_heroa.jpg

In the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the attackers helped the Ligue 1 champions bounce back having gone behind early on in the pre-season friendly Late goals from Javier Pastore and Kevin Gameiro gave Paris Saint-Germain a 2-1 friendly win over Rapid Vienna on Friday.

PSG lost the first game of their pre-season tour 3-1 to Sturm Graz on Tuesday but looked much sharper in the encounter at the Gerhard Hanappi Stadium.

Head coach Laurent Blanc named a strong side for the game, with the likes of first-team regulars Thiago Motta, Alex and Pastore all starting. However, captain Thiago Silva and star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic were both absent.

The match got off to a bad start for the Ligue 1 champions though, as Christopher Trimmel opened the scoring for the home side after 16 minutes with an outrageous back-heeled volley that Ibrahimovic himself would have been proud of.Trimmel attacked an inswinging corner and finished impudently from six yards, leaving Nicolas Douchez in the PSG goal with no chance.

Youngster Hervin Ongenda - who scored PSG's goal in their loss to Graz - almost brought the visitors level four minutes later, but Rapid keeper Jan Novota parried his powerful effort from 20 yards away.PSG went in 1-0 down at the break, but came out for the second half with much more purpose. Malian striker Kalifa Coulibaly hit the bar with a header after 65 minutes, but Blanc's men were level 12 minutes later when Argentina international Pastore volleyed home after Gameiro had flicked on a cross from Gregory van der Wiel.

And Gameiro himself then stole the win for PSG with a brilliant individual effort in the 81st minute.

Vidal: I want to stay at Juventus

    277556_heroa.jpg

The Chilean has insisted that, despite being "flattered" by interest from Real Madrid, he is keen to remain with the reigning Serie A champions Arturo Vidal has ruled out a move to Real Madrid, insisting that he wants to stay at Juventus.

The midfielder, 26, has been linked with a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, with reports suggesting los Blancos have bid as high as €36 million for the Chilean, but he is adamant that he will stay with the Italian champions.

"I’m flattered by Real Madrid’s interest in me, but I want to stay at Juventus," he said at a press conference on Friday.

"It’s nice to know that the club have turned down such an important offer for me without giving it a second thought."

Juve general director Giuseppe Marotta has stressed the importance of Vidal to Antonio Conte's squad and hopes that a contract extension will be a formality in the near future.

"He is a strong player and a reference point for Juventus going forward," he told reporters. "We are in contact with his agents. It will not be a problem to come to an agreement for a contract renewal."Vidal has a contract at the Juventus Stadium until 2016.

Tevez: Juventus tougher than Man City

    291720_heroa.jpg

The Argentina forward took part in his first training session with the Bianconeri and admits he was not used to such rigorous work in England Juventus striker Carlos Tevez thinks that pre-season training has been tougher than anything he experienced in the Premier League and insists he is ready to work hard for his new club.

The €12 million signing, who joined from Manchester City earlier this summer, is keen to prove to fans that he can up his game in the upcoming Serie A season.

"Well, after my first day of training I realised that I’ll certainly have to run much more than in England," he told reporters.

"Feeling the passion of the fans is important for me. I came here to work hard and it took me just half a session to realise I’ll have to work harder than in England."

Tevez will wear the No.10 shirt for the Bianconeri, previously donned by club legend Alessandro Del Piero, but he stressed that such a prospect is exciting rather than putting him under pressure.

"That doesn’t weight me down," the Argentine, 29, added. "It makes me feel important to receive such affection.

"I have joined a club that are ready to play for an historic third straight Scudetto and one that are also capable of challenging for the Champions League."

Messi and Neymar can play together, claims Guardiola

    293048_heroa.jpg

The former Blaugrana boss believes two of the club's prized-assets will successfully co-exist at Camp Nou ahead of the new season Pep Guardiola is convinced Lionel Messi and Neymar will combine to devastating effect for Barcelona next season.

The former Santos starlet secured his move to Camp Nou earlier in the summer and, but sections of the media have questioned whether the pair will be a good fit together due to their similar styles of play.

However, the Bayern Munich boss took some time out from verbally jousting with his former club to assert that the pair will have no difficulties playing together next season.

He told Lance: "Barca have always had some of the best players in the world at their disposal, and Neymar and Messi are undoubtedly two of the best at the moment.

"I know Messi very well. He is a fantastic person as well as player. I have met Neymar too and he seems like a good lad and I'm sure they will have no problem playing together."

The 42-year-old then turned his attentions towards next summer's World Cup, and believes his native Spain will go into the competition as favourites to retain their title - despite their 3-0 defeat to Brazil in the Confederations Cup final a fortnight ago.

He added: "It seemed perfectly normal to me that Spain lost [to Brazil]. They were physically better than us.

"But I believe that Spain are still favourites going into the World Cup."

Neymar is set to make his competitive debut for the Blaugrana when they open their Liga season against Levante on August 18.

My heart told me to join Dortmund, says Mkhitaryan

    294526_heroa.jpg

The 24-year-old says his decision was rooted in his firm belief that Signal Iduna Park was the right place for him to further his career Former Shakhtar Donestsk midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan says he "went with his heart" when deciding to sign for Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The 24-year-old completed a club record €27.5 million switch to Signal Iduna Park this week and, while a number of other teams were rumoured to be interested in his services, including Liverpool, Mkhitaryan has revealed there was only one club for him.

"I went with my heart, and I hope the club never regrets spending a single cent on me," he told reporters.

"I came to help the club achieve its goals."

Meanwhile, the Armenia international also refused to be drawn on comparisons between him and predecessor Mario Gotze - who left for Bayern Munich earlier in the summer - and says his new team-mates have given him a warm welcome at the club.

He added: "He [Gotze] is a very good player, but a different type of player than I am.

"I have been very well received by the other players, which has helped me a lot. They have all taken care of me and it has really made me adapt easier."

Mkhitaryan netted his first goal for the club in the 3-1 victory over Basel in a friendly on Wednesday.

Cech: Mourinho return doesn't guarantee title

    258071_heroa.jpg

The Czech Republic international will enjoy his 10th season at the club but warns the return of the Portuguese is no certainty of success for the Blues in the coming campaign Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has warned his team-mates the return of Jose Mourinho does not guarantee the Blues will regain the Premier League crown this season.

'The Portuguese's return to Stamford Bridge comes at a time when Manchester United and bitter rivals City have also changed their managers.

And Cech believes the impetus David Moyes and Manuel Pellegrini will bring negates any advantage Mourinho's return will give, and predicts the race for the Premier League title will be closer than ever.

"We would like to do as best as we can and we will work hard to achieve our goals," he told reporters.

"But it's very hard to see who will be the biggest force before the season starts.

"All the teams you have spoken about have great squads, they have kept those players together and improved by buying some players.

"Even if they have new managers, they have the same players. They will have new motivation under a new manager, so it will be difficult."

I snubbed Guardiola's offer to join Bayern, claims Mathieu

    288146_heroa.jpg

The 29-year-old claims he declined the opportunity to move to the Allianz Arena because he feared he would miss next summer's World Cup with France
Valencia defender Jeremy Mathieu has revealed he snubbed Pep Guardiola's advances to join him at Bayern Munich this summer in order to remain at the Mestalla.

The 29-year-old, who recently inked a contract extension until 2017 with los Che, had been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks following an impressive individual season last term.

And the France international claims to have caught the eye of the newly-appointed Bavarians boss, but believes a move to the Allianz Arena would have had a negative impact on his international career.

He told reporters: "Pep sent me a message but I told him I would rather stay with Valencia.

"Bayern are very good, but I am thinking about the World Cup and with Valencia I have more opportunities to play."

Mathieu, who has been previously linked with Liga champions Barcelona, has made 131 appearances for Valencia since joining on a bosman from Toulouse in 2009.

De Boer warns Eriksen against Liverpool switch

    286316_heroa.jpg

The Ajax coach feels that the Reds' playing style under Brendan Rodgers would not suit the young Denmark international but admits the decision is ultimately up to the player Ajax coach Frank de Boer has warned Christian Eriksen against a move to Liverpool.

The Denmark international has been linked with a switch to Anfield, as well as other clubs such as Roma and Borussia Dortmund, in recent months. However, since the Bundesliga side signed attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan last week, Eriksen's most likely destination looks set to be Liverpool - a move De Boer feels would be unwise.

"If they play as they do now, I would not go", the former Netherlands international told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad."The playing style would not suit his own but, ultimately, it is for Chris himself to decide."

Eriksen, 21, has just one year remaining on his current contract at the Amsterdam ArenA and looks set to leave before the end of the transfer window.Should he move to Anfield, he would join an impressive array of attacking talent, with Brendan Rodgers having added signings such as Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto to his squad in the close-season.

Rodgers also has the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez to call on as he attempts to improve his side's seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season.
