Martial arrives for Manchester United medical

    1856172_heroa.jpg

Anthony Martial has arrived at Carrington to undergo a medical and complete his big-money move from Monaco to Manchester United, Goal has learned.

United agreed a deal with their French counterparts on Monday, although while the British media are reporting a fee of £36 million (€50m), French outlets claim it is closer to £50m (€68m).

Martial, who was handed his first international call-up by Didier Deschamps for the upcoming fixtures against Portugal and Serbia, was given permission by the French Football Federation to leave the camp and fly to England.

He landed in Manchester on Monday afternoon and staff at the club's training ground were told to prepare for his arrival ahead of a medical.

The 19-year-old scored nine goals in Ligue 1 last season and has been identified as one of the hottest properties in French football.

Following interest from Tottenham back in June he signed a new contract with Monaco, and it has been reported in France that boss Leonardo Jardim has threatened to quit if he is sold to United.

United's non-international players were given the day off on Monday, with manager Louis van Gaal arriving for work at around midday.

Ed Woodward, the club's executive vice-chairman who was at Carrington past nightfall last week, was not on site on Monday morning.

Official: Borini joins Sunderland from Liverpool

    1742142_heroa.jpg

Fabio Borini has completed a permanent move from Liverpool to Sunderland.

Goal reported on Monday morning that Borini was due to travel to Wearside on Monday to undergo a medical ahead of a £7 million switch, with the Black Cats seeing off competition from Inter and Watford.

The 24-year-old spent the 2013-14 season on loan at Sunderland before returning to Anfield for the following campaign, and has now signed a four-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

The Italian striker scored seven goals in 32 Premier League games for the Black Cats, but turned down a permanent switch last summer in order to fight for a starting XI spot in Brendan Rodgers' side.

Borini failed to secure a regular role for Liverpool last season despite the club finishing a disappointing sixth in the table, and has now brought his three-year spell on Merseyside to an end.

well from my time here previously. "It will be emotional for me to play at the Stadium of Light again and I can’t wait to get back on the pitch as a Sunderland player."
Sunderland coach Dick Advocaat said: "Fabio is a great addition to the squad who will make our front line stronger. He can play in a number of attacking positions which is a huge benefit to the team.”The Black Cats' club’s sporting director Lee Congerton added: "Fabio is a player who I’ve known since he was 15 years old and I was fortunate enough to help recruit him to Chelsea.

"He has developed into a Premier League striker which we have already seen from his previous loan spell at the club, and we are delighted to have him here on a permanent basis."The forward joined Liverpool in 2012 from Roma, and made 38 appearances in all competition for the Anfield club.

Borini is the third Liverpool striker to depart this summer, with Mario Balotelli joining AC Milan on loan and Rickie Lambert signing for West Brom.

Dante leaves Bayern Munich to join Wolfsburg

    dante-fc-bayern-munchen-04042015_jc334he3zn5j109hxh8vgg52z.jpg

Wolfsburg have completed the signing of centre-back Dante from Bayern Munich.
Bayern had revealed on Sunday that the 31-year-old was set to leave the Bundesliga champions for last season's runners-up.And Wolfsburg have now revealed that the defender has joined them on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

"We are pleased that Dante has decided to join Wolfsburg," the club's sporting director Klaus Allofs said. "In him we have signed a player who further increases our capabilities and quality defensively and who also has a lot of international experience, which is important especially in our goal to compete in the Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB-Pokal."Head coach Dieter Hecking added: "Dante is a seasoned Bundesliga player who will help us immediately. With his quality and his character he fits perfectly into our squad."

Following his move to Bayern from Borussia Monchengladbach three years ago, Dante remained a key player for the Bavarian side up until this season. The defender had been left out of the side for the first two Bundesliga games this term and came off the bench for the last 20 minutes of Saturday's win over Bayer Leverkusen.

Dante is one of two signings Wolfsburg made on Monday, having also completed the transfer of Julian Draxler from Schalke as a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, who left to join Manchester City.

    Southampton block Wanyama exit

    odion-ighalo-victor-wanyama-watford-southampton-premier-league-23082015_6ef16aa58hwv1v9sea3xu24zn.jpg

Southampton are working round the clock to prevent Victor Wanyama from leaving the club, Goal can reveal.

A source close to Wanyama confirmed that Southampton held a closed-door meeting with the Kenya captain and his agent on Monday to try and convince him to stay at St Mary's after the midfielder handed in a transfer request on Friday.

The 24-year-old was absent from Sunday's 3-0 win over Norwich, with Saints boss Ronald Koeman confirming beforehand that the midfielder was not "mentally and physically good enough to play" amid mounting speculation of a move to Tottenham.

The source told Goal: "Wanyama wants out. He has made up his mind. He wants to play for Tottenham and that is for sure. The only problem we have is that Southampton are not willing to let him go. They are short in midfield after letting Morgan Schneiderlin join Manchester United."The Saints are complaining that releasing Wanyama now will be a bad move because they cannot get a better replacement."

The source also confirmed that Southampton had enticed Wanyama with an improved contract worth double his current salary, but the midfielder's future remains uncertain for now.

The source said: "The Saints have promised to double Wanyama’s pay to convince
him to stay. It is a very disturbing scenario but we hope a solution will be reached by the end of transfer window. For now his exit from Southampton is 50-50."

Koeman revealed at the weekend that Wanyama, who joined the south coast club in 2013, told him he wanted to leave St Mary's during a team meeting last week.
However, the Dutch coach remained bullish over his chances of keeping both Wanyama and Sadio Mane at the club this season.

Wanyama only has two years left on his current contract but, having already lost Schneiderlin this summer, Southampton would demand a substantial fee for a player who cost £12.5 million in 2013.

The 24-year-old has previously praised the impact that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino had on his career, having played 24 times under the Argentine in his maiden campaign in England at Southampton.

Manchester United-bound Martial has 'big potential' - Deschamps

    anthonymartial-cropped_h8cvqcecept1ran6mmoqi69q.jpg

France coach Didier Deschamps believes Anthony Martial has "big potential" - although must play first-team football at Manchester United.

Martial had arrived at Clairefontaine to link up with the senior squad for the first time ahead of international friendlies with Portugal and Serbia, although has since been given permission to travel to England.

And Deschamps feels the 19-year-old - who only agreed a new four-year contract at Monaco in June - has the makings of a leading player should he complete his move to Old Trafford.

He said: "Obviously, he is a player with a big potential. He was just called up to the national team.

"Is it the right choice for Anthony? He is going to a big club. We will keep following him. He will be in another planet, another galaxy. It's up to him to progress and gain some time to play."

France Under-21 coach Pierre Mankowski believes United are signing an 'innate talent' who is 'unstoppable' with the ball.

He said: "He is a talent. When he takes the ball, he is unstoppable. But he is still young. He has a lot of things to work on. But since he has this innate talent, it means he has a bright future.

"It's up to him to prove with the senior national team and with his new club. He has everything to become a great player. But he needs to do everything every day to be at the top level.

"Am I surprised? Yes and no. I have been thinking for a long time - with the games he has played - that he will reach another level. I don't know if it's too soon but it is the right moment."

West Ham working on late triple swoop, but set to miss out on Moses

    1661752_heroa.jpg

West Ham are hopeful of completing three transfers prior to Tuesday’s deadline but appear to have missed out in the race to sign Chelsea winger Victor Moses, Goal understands.

The Hammers originally tabled a £6 million bid for the Nigeria-born forward, but refused to meet the Blues’ £15m valuation, and subsequently offered to sign Moses on loan.

Slaven Bilic’s side agreed to pay Moses’ £70,000-per-week wages in negotiations over the weekend but sources have since revealed that an unnamed club has made a move to “gazump” the Hammers. Both West Brom and Tottenham have been linked with the 24-year-old.

West Ham remain optimistic that the deal can be salvaged but have opened talks with Nottingham Forest over the potential signing of Michail Antonio for a fee understood to be in the region of £7m.

The club have previously seen an offer of £5m rejected by Forest, who were keen to sign Matt Jarvis in part-exchange, and it is understood that the former Wolves man will not be included in the deal should negotiations reach a favourable conclusion.

The Hammers are also continuing to search for a striker, having previously targeted the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Simone Zaza and Burak Yilmaz, and are close to completing a deal for Hull City forward Nikica Jelavic.

Bilic is keen to bolster his strike force and the two clubs have agreed a fee of £2.5m plus add-ons for the Croatian, who scored eight Premier League goals last season.

Reports over the weekend also suggested that the club could miss out on the signing of Alex Song with Spurs reportedly also taking a keen interest in the Barcelona midfielder, but Jack Sullivan - son of West Ham co-owner David Sullivan - confirmed Song's arrival via Twitter on Monday evening.

Song is currently recovering from ankle surgery, though the injury was not thought to be prohibitive to any potential transfer.

Official: Sevilla loan Andreolli from Inter

    marco-andreolli-inter_1ex2052hto79l1ui96kfv12tju.jpg

Sevilla have confirmed the signing of Inter defender Marco Andreolli on a season-long loan.

The centre-back, 29, joined the Nerazzurri on a free transfer in 2013 but has featured only 19 times since then, and was not considered part of Roberto Mancini's plans for 2015-16.

There were reports in Italy that he might join Fiorentina but, on transfer deadline day for La Liga and Serie A, Andreolli joined the Europa League holders with an option to purchase at the end of the season.

"Sevilla and Inter have reached an agreement for the loan-and-possible-purchase of Marco Andreolli," the club said in a statement on Monday.

"The Italian centre-back, 29, has played the last two seasons for the Nerazzurri without having enjoyed many opportunities. Last season he played 13 official matches in Serie A.

"Despite not being a regular, Andreolli was one of the heavyweights in the dressing room and one of the team's leaders."

Andreolli – whose contract at Inter expires next June – joins Steven N'Zonzi, Iago Aspas, Fernando Llorente, Ciro Immobile and Yevhen Konoplyanka among the new recruits for Unai Emery's men.

Aulas: Lyon set to earn €10m from Martial's Manchester United move

    jean-michelaulas-cropped_1bkyc3z6mdldt1uat185a2yrya.jpg

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas says Anthony Martial's proposed move to Manchester United will earn his club an initial €10 million in sell-on fees.

Martial joined Monaco from Lyon in 2013 for a fee of €5m and the France international is now poised to move to Old Trafford after scoring just 15 goals in total for the Ligue 1 club.

It has been reported that United could pay as much as €80m for the young forward - a fee that would make him the most expensive teenager in history - and Aulas has revealed that Lyon stand to benefit significantly from the deal.

"He is a great prospect, which is why we had rights for the resale," Aulas told reporters. "It is a very nice deal for Anthony and I am very happy.

"We were smart enough to handle the short and the long term.

"Money raised? In the short term 10 million. With the bonus, we will improve in the future."

Inter confirm Ljajic and Felipe Melo signings

Inter have confirmed Roma attacking midfielder Adem Ljajic has signed for the club in the final few minutes of Serie A's deadline day.

It had been reported in Italy that the Serbia international, 23, was set to join the Nerazzurri on a season-long loan for €2 million with an option for his new club to purchase for an additional €9m in 2016.

And as the Italian transfer window was snapping shut for the summer, Inter announced Ljajic's arrival.

"Inter can officially announce the arrival of attacker Adem Ljajic from Roma on loan with the option to purchase in 2016," the club said in a statement on their website. "The player is welcomed by the whole club."

A few minutes later, Inter tweeted the transfer of Galatasaray midfielder Felipe Melo had also been completed, while the loan arrival of Alex Telles from the same club was also announced.

Ljajic has spent two seasons at the Stadio Olimpico side but failed to truly make his mark on Rudi Garcia's XI since his €11 million signing, while 32-year-old Felipe Melo has been playing in Istanbul since leaving Juventus in 2013.

The trio join Geoffrey Kondogbia, Ivan Perisic, Jeison Murillo, Miranda, Stevan Jovetic and Martin Montoya as major Inter arrivals this summer.Inter have started their season with back-to-back wins in Serie A, leaving them third behind Chievo and Torino after two matches.
