:cool:Mata urges Manchester United to improve home form

    387162_heroa.jpg

Juan Mata has called for Manchester United to replicate their fine away form at Old Trafford after Saturday's 4-0 win at Newcastle United.

The midfielder netted twice in an easy win for David Moyes' men at St James' Park, curling home a free kick six minutes before the break and then slotting home from Chicharito's pass in the 50th minute.

United have claimed more points away from home than any other team in the top flight this season, but their home form has been disappointing with just seven wins at Old Trafford.

"When we look at that record, we think we should have done better at home and at Old Trafford," Mata told MUTV.

"But I think it is something to be proud of, to be the best team away from home in the league.

"Let's try to win at home, win as many games as we can until the end of the season and go higher in the table."

United host Norwich City, Sunderland and Hull City before the end of the season.

Shaqiri out of Man United clash

    387425_heroa.jpg

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has been dealt another injury blow after Xherdan Shaqiri was ruled out of Wednesday's Champions League match against Manchester United.

The Switzerland international suffered a torn thigh muscle and was substituted at half-time as Bayern suffered a 1-0 defeat at Augsburg on Saturday, a result which ended a 53-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga for Pep Guardiola's men.

The Bavarian club have now confirmed that Shaqiri will be unavailable for the second leg of their quarter-final tie.

"The midfielder reported to Dr Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt’s clinic in the evening, where the FCB Chief Medical Officer diagnosed a badly torn muscle in the right thigh. Shaqiri will be sidelined until further notice," a statement on the club's official website reads.

The Switzerland international's absence further weakens Bayern ahead of the crucial clash with United as Bastian Schweinsteiger and Javi Martinez are both suspended for the tie.

Additionally, Thiago Alcantara, Diego Contento, Tom Starke, Lukas Raeder and Holger Badstuber are all unavailable, too.

    Reus targeting Champions League miracle

    387421_heroa.jpg

Marco Reus insists Borussia Dortmund have not given up hope of pulling off a Champions League miracle against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Dortmund head into the second leg of their quarter-final with a 3-0 deficit, having been comprehensively beaten by Real at the Bernabeu. However, BVB beat Madrid 4-1 at home 12 months ago in the first leg of a semi-final tie and gained a confidence boost with a 2-1 comeback win over Wolfsburg on Saturday.

And Reus, who scored the winning goal against Dieter Hecking's men, still harbours ambitions of reaching the last four of Europe's premier club competition.
"We have not given up," Reus told Dortmund's official website. "If we play like we did (against Wolfsburg) in the first half, then it becomes very difficult.

"If we play as well as we did in the second, it may even work out. It is damn hard, (but) we'll give everything. In football, everything is possible."Ivica Olic gave Wolfsburg the lead at Signal Iduna Park, before Robert Lewandowski levelled for Dortmund six minutes into the second half.

Reus then capitalised on an error from Wolfsburg goalkeeper Max Grun, who fumbled a cross after clattering into defender Robin Knoche, to slot home the winner. The former Borussia Monchengladbach man dismissed suggestions that he had intentionally handled when controlling the ball following Grun's mistake.

"How am I able to move my hand away so fast? Even if I had not affected the ball with my hand, I would probably nevertheless have scored the goal," Reus added.
"From there it - as I already said - was a perfectly good goal."

Wenger hits out at Premier League loan system

    380880_heroa.jpg

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hit out at the Premier League loan system ahead of their clash with Everton on Sunday.

The Frenchman is particularly concerned with players unable to play against their parent club, claiming the system is flawed - with the Gunners set to face a Toffees side at Goodison Park consisting of Manchester City's Gareth Barry and Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku.Wenger said the loan should be a total one - that is, the player is eligible to play against his parent club - to protect the integrity of the league.

"I believe that if you want to continue the system we have to make them available against the teams that loaned them out - or the system is not defensible," he said.
"It is just a protection of the clubs who loan the players out to hurt their opponents, when they have no risk at all.

"For a while you could decide when you loaned a player out whether he could play against you or not and I always decided 'yes, he can play against us'."The system is the same for Chelsea, Arsenal and everybody else but the only question is 'is the system right or not?' It is open for debate.

"It is true Everton have done a quality job on that front because they have got Barry, Lukaku, Gerard Deulofeu from Barcelona."Lukaku and Barry, yes they have been influential."

Wenger said, however, he does not believe title challengers loan deliberately to rivals in order to derail sides their players will invariably have to play against.

"I don't think so – I think it is just a chance to loan the player somewhere at the top level and see how good he is, which we try to do as well, but it raises questions," he added."This is not something against Chelsea or Man City, it's just that the whole system has to be considered."

Wenger also weighed in on the current saga surrounding Chelsea and 'feeder club' Vitesse Arnhem in the Eredivisie, with the Dutch FA investigating claims the Blues ordered them to lose games. The Arsenal boss said there is a query on whether Vitesse are playing at 100 per cent, with claims Chelsea would prefer they did not reach the Champions League so as to not cup-tie any loanee players.

"I think the best thing would be that players are only loaned to the lower divisions and abroad – and even abroad, I am not completely convinced that it is right," Wenger said."For example, I read in a paper that in Holland they complain that Vitesse Arnhem doesn't want to win the championship – so that is the kind of question you get in the modern game.

"We are interested in feeder clubs as well but it is true it raises questions."

Kroos: Augsburg defeat not a disaster for Bayern

    387391_heroa.jpg

Toni Kroos has played down the significance of Bayern Munich's first Bundesliga defeat of the season, claiming that Saturday's 1-0 loss at Augsburg is "not a disaster".

The Bavarians have already wrapped up the title but Saturday's reversal at the SGL Arena means that Pep Guardiola's men have now gone three games without a victory in all competitions.

Bayern's form appears a cause for concern ahead of the visit of Manchester United on Wednesday night for the decisive second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie, but Kroos feels it would be foolish to read too much into the defeat against Augsburg.

"We dominated the game but we didn’t make the most of it," the midfielder told his club's official website.

"We weren’t calm enough to create clear-cut opportunities. That was the problem today.

"But it’s not a disaster. We want to win every game and you could see that today in the way we pressed forward in search of a goal in the second half.

    "It just didn’t work out.”

Bayern claimed a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, with Bastian Schweinsteiger cancelling out Nemanja Vidic's opener.

:rofl:Moyes: Less expectancy key to Manchester United's away form

    387396_heroa.jpg

Manchester United boss David Moyes believes his team have benefited from a relative lack of pressure in away games this season.

Although the Red Devils sit sixth in the Premier League, having struggled in their first season under their Scottish coach, the club have picked up more points away from home than any other club in the top flight.

A 4-0 victory at Newcastle United on Saturday represented the 10th league triumph on the road for the defending champions this season, yet Moyes has overseen just seven wins from 16 league games on home soil.

"Maybe there's a big expectation at Old Trafford to go and be a bit gung-ho and play in a real attacking style," the former Everton boss told reporters."We've lost a few games by narrow margins - 1-0 [to] Newcastle United, Everton."We've lost a few games like that, whereas maybe away from home there's not as much expectancy to go and be like that."

United, who face Bayern Munich on Wednesday in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final, were hampered by injuries at St James' Park, having lost Wayne Rooney to a toe problem prior to the match.Ashley Young was forced off in the first half after hurting his hand, while Patrice Evra and Marouane Fellaini were withdrawn after the interval.

"Pat Evra had a bit of a sore knee, Ashley Young looks like he's torn the ligaments in his hand and Marouane Fellaini was dizzy," Moyes added.

Atletico Mineiro sign Anelka on a free transfer

Atletico Mineiro have confirmed the signing of former France international Nicolas Anelka on a free transfer.

The 35-year-old has been without a club since being sacked by West Bromwich Albion last month, after already announcing via a social media site that he was terminating his contract with the club.

According to Atletico Mineiro president Alexandre Kalil, the forward has now agreed to join the Copa Libertadores champions.

"Anelka is a rooster [a reference to the club's nickname]," the Brazil club's supremo wrote on his official Twitter feed.

Anelka's West Brom exit was sparked by the controversy caused by the striker's use of the 'quenelle' gesture to celebrate a goal against West Ham United at Upton Park in December.

The act, which is allegedly anti-Semitic, resulted in the former Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madid man being banned for five games by the Football Association (FA).

Because of his departure from the Hawthorns, though, Anelka never served the suspension, prompting the FA to request that Fifa make the ban worldwide.

It remains to be seen, though, if the player will have to sit out the first five games of his Atletico Mineiro career.

Tottenham would demand €120 million for Lloris, says Sherwood

    384692_heroa.jpg

Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood has slapped a €120 million price tag on Hugo Lloris, insisting the club are not willing to offload the goalkeeper.

The France international moved to White Hart Lane for £11m (€13m) from Lyon in 2012 and still has two years left on his current Spurs deal.

Rumours have been rife the shot-stopper has been eyeing a move away from north London to secure Champions League football, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly keeping tabs on him, but Sherwood is adamant the club want to hold on to the 27-year-old.

“He is one of the best keepers around,” the Spurs boss said, as quoted by the Daily Mirror. “Of course, people are going to want him. But I’m also sure the club won’t be tempted to get rid of him.

“He is one of the top goalies and unless someone is going to spend £100m (€120m) on him – and keepers do not get bought for that money – I don’t think he will leave.

“It was only that kind of figure that tempted the club to sell Gareth Bale – and he desperately wanted to leave and progress his career at Real Madrid.

"[Lloris] hasn’t got to play a blinder for France at the World Cup because people already know what he can do. They know he is a fantastic goalie.

“Even if he was terrible for France, I don’t think it would make a difference as to how people view him. Everyone can recognise it.

“He has never said to me or anyone else at the club that he wants to leave. And he does not perform like he wants to leave.

"He gives everything all the time and that is why he is a favourite of the players and fans.”

The Spurs boss is also confident striker Emmanuel Adebayor will commit his future to the club, despite the Londoners’ priority of adding further firepower up front in the summer.

Sherwood has already hinted at a move for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, but believes Adebayor’s resurgent form since he took charge of the club should encourage the Togo international to stay put.

“Adebayor is a pleasure to work with and is a good role model for younger players,” the coach added. “He trains excellently, conducts himself well and I’ve never had a problem with him.

“He has married his talent with a top attitude and has been reaping the rewards since I got here.

“I’m sure he wants to be part of the future here. I don’t think he wants to keep moving clubs.

“His family is settled in London and he just wants to help us win as many games as possible.”

Neuer shrugs off Augsburg defeat: Manchester United all that matters

    382977_heroa.jpg

Manuel Neuer has shrugged off Bayern Munich's shock defeat at Augsburg, claiming that Wednesday's meeting with Manchester United is all that matters to the Bavarians.

Saturday's 1-0 loss at the SGL Arena was the first suffered by Pep Guardiola's men in the Bundesliga this season and also means that the German champions have now gone three games without a win in all competitions.

However, while Neuer insisted that the alread-crowned German champions had not given the game their all, he admitted that their primary concern at the moment is Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg against United.

“We took Augsburg seriously," the goalkeeper is quoted as saying by his club's official website.

"But the main thing for us was that nobody got injured. That’s the crucial point.

"It’s all about Wednesday and the match against Manchester United. Nothing else matters.”

Bayern host United at the Allianz Arena having claimed a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford last week.

:shocked:Hazard: If my wife tells me to go to PSG I'd consider it

    386280_heroa.jpg

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has revealed he would consider joining Paris Saint-Germain if his wife insisted on moving to the French capital.

Hazard provided Chelsea's only beacon of light in their 3-1 defeat at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday evening, scoring a penalty and hitting the post with a volley.

Much of the build-up to the match was dominated by PSG's reported interest in signing Hazard this summer, with boss Laurent Blanc admitting his admiration for the Belgian.

And Hazard told French documentary series Interieur Sport: "If my wife tells me to go to Paris then I'll have to take this into consideration."

The Belgian was also very complimentary about the Parc des Princes, adding: "The Parc des Princes is a real stadium and a special place where I've known my first sensations as a player."

Chelsea face PSG in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, hoping to overturn a 3-1 deficit.

Mu PSG giyoth CFC wala godak qualities nathi wenawa.. BTW My no 1 Favorite player but this is a Silly excuse..!
