This is one of the weird problems that you wouldn't wish to get.... Did you try the Apple solution - But requires another Mac.
    https://support.apple.com/en-au/guide/apple-configurator-2/apdebea5be51/mac

Note: Apple uses reviving and restoring the firmware. There's a distinct difference. If you revive rather than restore, no data will be erased on that Mac.
If you must restore the firmware, that restores firmware on volumes on internal SSD storage, which destroys all existing data on your internal SSD.

Else you could try disabling the T2 and load MacOS from an external drive.

    Thanks for the infor.

kind of ridiculous problem I ever came a cross. I'm struggling to get a host Mac device which mentioned on the Apple site and here. Data on the Mac device I already backedup, no problem at all with the data. no one not supporting to do this kind of procedure, you know the reason.

I have already done disabling the T2 chip and reinstalling macos from external drive, but non happned to me. Also tied bro doing this shit over and over again.

Facing the same kind of problem with my MacBook Air. Can't update from Sierra. Says the OS is corrupted. Other than that nothing is wrong with it.
haven't you resolve the proble since then?
