What is Net Neutrality

Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers and governments regulating the Internet should treat all data on the Internet the same, not discriminating or charging differentially by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or mode of communication. The term was coined by Columbia University media law professor Tim Wu in 2003, as an extension of the longstanding concept of a common carrier, which was used to describe the role of telephone systems.

My only concern is the given limited data plan to the users.

If the person has a knowledge to google then they should be able to download a VPN software/Antivirus software to defend themselves. They all can look for porn in whole wide web but don't know how to improve their privacy? -- B.U.L.L.S.H.I.T --

So you think Privacy is Net Neutrality & actually it isn't also totally different. Like most Sri Lankans you have no idea what it is.

The most important principle of net neutrality is the idea that internet service providers (ISPs) should give consumers access to all legal content and applications on an equal basis, without favoring some sources or blocking others. In practice, that means if you want to watch a movie on Netflix, listen to a song on SoundCloud or watch a video from CNN, your service provider should treat the delivery of and access to all of that content equally. And while the FCC currently supports some regulation, it still allows zero-rating, which many critics believe violates net neutrality.

A term historically used only by telco professionals, zero-rating describes the practice of ISPs, like Comcast and Verizon, allowing customers to consume content from certain platforms without it counting toward their data plan cap.

At the moment some ISPs in Sri Lanka only blocks some porn sites and torrents. That's it1. I see this is a good thing given how most of the people doesn't have common sense how to use internet for good and not for bad. Therefore most of the people who get blocked by ISP will give up but some will find a way to bypass.

This is to practice good habits to people and not to discourage or anything.
