Product Sound Performance

Sound performance whether through the low, middle or higher frequency range is perfect. Nothing needs upgrading , tweaking or re-engineering. With 500 watts worth of RMS power, the amplifier is just toying with your ear drums and daring you to turn up the dial.

The focal point of this system is the beautiful example of what a computer speaker system subwoofer should be. Words cannot describe how powerful and loud this woofer kicks. With the subwoofer and system volume only turned up to half, EVERYTHING in the room was vibrating or shuddering in some way. Even in the upper system volume levels the woofer never distorted and had me reaching for the volume dial to turn it down before it was even thinking of cutting out. The power is there if you want to use it, but I can almost guarantee 95% of the time you will only be using 25% of its' capability.

Overall, I can say nothing but positive things about the sound reproduction using the Z-5500 system. The weakness in your computer audio will be the soundcard after this speaker system is installed.

How "someone" says the speakers handle different genres.

Electronic: Manitoba, Start Breaking My Heart No better way to see how the system handles electronic quirky click-and-beep music than this modern masterpiece. I'm soundly impressed. Great fidelity in the high end, and the bass isn't as aggressive on low-bass songs than I was afraid it might be.

Bass: Scorn, Gyral This is where the system really, REALLY shines. Scorn makes music that sounds like doom and Gyral is among the doomiest of all their albums. Crawling, grinding, thundering bass topped with minimal noise and flourish, and the 5500 made it sound better than any other system I've ever heard it on. Seriously.

Jazz: Charles Mingus, Reincarnations of a Lovebird ...and here's where the frailty comes through. So far, it's been electronic music and the system copes remarkably well. Mingus, though, makes very human music with big ensembles, with lots of activity all over the map. Since Mingus is a bassist, you know the bass will be present – and again, the system handles the bass very, very well – and the high-end stuff is actually very well handled – but the midrange is a bit thin. It's hard to quantify how exactly, but there's a sense of absence there.

Rap: Herbailiser, Very Mercenary Once again, the system shines. Lots of bass, but with ju-uu-ust enough crispness that it doesn't get muddy on the low end. Again, a great high-range does an admirable job handling the group's trademark quirks and complications.

Classical: Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Handel's Water Music This is where the biggest dynamic shift in the entire 5500 is revealed. Classical music has in general much more dynamic shifts than pop or electronic music: rock tends to pick a volume and stick to it, more or less, while classical ranges from ten minutes very very soft to roaring crests of triumph that can completely overwhelm your senses – and your stereo. The Z5500 is a champ with the roaring bits. It is spectacularly awesome with the roaring bits. The quiet bits – eh. Good fidelity, but again the midrange is less than incredible. When there's no bass driving the sound, some weaknesses come to the fore.
Don't try to eat my head off. This is only something I found out over the net.

I don't believe this..I think onboard uses less cpu
No that is not true. Onboard audio uses CPU to process everything so CPU utilization is high where as Dedicated audio has an APU for that purpose, thus relieving most of the load off the CPU. (But the degree of CPU utilization depends on the player used, DSPs used and more importantly, the power of the CPU)

Yes but bro normally SL people r buying Mobos for 6000 to 13,000/= price range.

But dedicated best sound cards r much more expensive than that.

Lots of good PC Subwoofer systems hv 3way speakers. Except CREATIVE stuff and other cheap chinese products

thats not i meant...
a small 3 ways cant do that...
you need a tower with decent size..
of speakers to get that kind of quality...
if you have one then no need of a sub too...
because most of the high quality tower do below 30hz now..
:)

You have to have a knowledge to configure a sound card properly.....
btw what media player did u use to test it?
tell me first what speakers you have tested? You are saying

This is not about your imagination this is about facts. I have tested many of those speakers and and i have been there from Vibra 128, SB Live! days to X-Fi over these years. So don't worry about the configs and players i use. I tried almost every method to make z5500 sounds real. But its artificial.
