This is a discussion that took place in a forum site. I remembered elakiri when I saw this.
So I'm going to post it here. No usernames will be posted. Don't waste your time searching for these posts, you wouldn't find them using google :P

Chuck Finley seemed to have it bad, but I'm seeing some others complaining about it too. It seems people want to get a million thanks for their posts. Don't worry if people thank you or they don't. Trust me, your work is very much appreciated and we all thank you for posting your content, even if we don't always click the button or reply.

I posted some content which I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed and I got very few thanks, but who cares? Others are here posting and helping me fill the gap in my collection. The least I can do, as a thank you to them, is to post some of my content.

Does anybody else feel differently? I know it's nice to get recognized for your efforts, but would you stop posting if someone didn't thank you?
That is one aspect of this board I find really annoying.
I've been around since before well hussy started on usenet,
and I understand the want for recognition. Anonymous boards
don't have a large amount of content simply because there's no
recognition for posters. Let's face it: being a big-time poster
lends you "street cred". We all want to be trusted members -we all
want our voices heard and to be respected in the community.
When it comes to others asking about security or advice on anything,
a well known 'nick' (that's what we called usernames back on usenet)
will be listened to more than an anonymous voice.

The stars next to posts, the thank-you button, the gradual gaining of stars
by usernames; all of that is a lame, arbitrary way of doing what people
used to do: simply get to know posters and recognize them and come to
respect them naturally. The stars remind me of some lame teenager forum.

Disclaimer: I don't post here for other reasons, but the "reputation system" here,
as similar to dreamboard is a real turn off IMO.
I don't mind working for the common good. A thanks is nice once in a while, but the best recognition is having someone else add to your post.

What really puts spit in my coffee is the morons who give posters grief because of quality/naming/sizing issues or other whiny complaints. These guys are usually no-posters themselves. I've yet to see a reply of 'your picture was too small asshole, here's the full size'.

I, for one, remain grateful for anything nice I can add to my collection.
All your work are appreciated , no matter how many thanks u get.

I agree on that but if some one is fullfilling a request imo one should always thank the person.

Not only no-posters them self they're almost always also hiding behind "anomous" or like here being a "guest".

That is the main reason many get pissed off, also the part if one say having fills or similar and don't post within "minutes" there is always some asshole that is going to say "are you going to post" or similar.
Like said earlier we are all be grateful if some decides to share stuff.. but should have understanding if they do not/cannot share it right away due to diffrent reasons.
I really don't give a shit about people thanking me. I have posted hundreds of galleries which have been ignored, yet i still post. Why? Well, its all about sharing, right?? If not, then what's the point?

Sure, it's nice to get a "thank you" every now and then. Usually its the same people that say "thanks". When you see a thread that 2500 people have looked at, yet only 10 have answered, sure, you get pissed, but it goes over

Give from the heart and fuck the assholes!

On another note, 99% of the time, i only thank those that give what i am interested in, sometimes i just say thanks even if it's not my interest, just because it's a special post. So maybe that's why many posts never get a thanks.... no-one is interested or maybe they already have it?
This is pretty long. So I'll stop here.
I posted this because some of the threads posted here in elakiri makes me wonder why they post these kind of stuff at all.
I hope my fellow elakirians will get the message :)
