If there is anything to learn from that accident report Hetti posted, it is that it doesn't matter how safe we drive, it takes only one insane maniac to cause a serious accident. You may be the world's slowest safest driver but that doesn't save you from eventualities like this. Conclusion? one should always go for the most safe vehicle available for his/her budget.

Well wearing a helmet when riding a motorcycle doesn't mean there is 0% chance of you being killed by a head injury in case of an accident does it? But there is a 90% chance of you being killed by a head injury if you face an accident while riding your motorcycle without a helmet.

The same theory applies here. :)

Riding without a helmet = Driving a car rated unsafe/ gained 0 stars on every safety test/ Equipped with no safety equipment

not even close. helmet or without helmet motor cycles are dangerous. Not a good example there bro.

Vehicles are metal cages on rubber. Safety features sure do a good job at preserving life, but it cant make you stop getting in to an accident.

Every vehicle is equally dangerous, young padawan.

Saying that a bike is more dangerous than a car is like saying that a knife is more dangerous than scissors. They're both tools operated by a human, basically meaning that they are as dangerous as the human is.

Safety features sure do a good job at preserving life, but it cant make you stop getting in to an accident.

Wrong! Here's a short video (0:46) which shows you how ABS stops a driver from getting in to an accident :)

Didn't want to jump in but wanted to make a correction.

If you look at features like city break assist (or AEB) / ABS / Traction control / Electronic Stability Control / blind spot warning they are build to prevent accidents from happening.

And after all that if it does happen there are again a lot of features to save the life of the passengers.

It's sad that despite Shan's 8 month research on vehicles he still have no clue how safety features like ABS help avoid accidents... cars like KWID are more vulnerable to brake lock - up due to narrow tyres that doesn't offer much grip on road. With a budget with 2.2+ mil he could've essily gone for a used jap equipped with ABS as a standard feature, not to mention wider tyres and all :)

well done finding this video, but if you understand what I said you wouldn't be posting this. ABS/Air Bags are to minimize the damage during an accident.

You can't stop a specific situation from happening. You can try to stop yourself from running in to an accident. But you can prevent the accident from happening. :nerd:

my research showed me that a safe driver like me could survive without ABS. Even BWM introduced ABS in the 80s. There are vehicles without ABS and they are doing fine. Having ABS is really great, but it is not a essential feature to put a vehicle on the road. There are many cars already without ABS on the road. So why worry?

It is very stupid to go for a very old vehicle for such a clumsy feature :)

    Did you watch the video?
Did you see how the car equipped with ABS was able to prevent the accident from happening?
Did you see the car without ABS trying to stop itself from running into the accident and how it failed due to brake lock-up?
Did you see the car with ABS trying to stop itself from running into the accident and how the brake lock-up didn't occur and the driver was still able to steer the car away from danger?
What happened here is not minimizing the damage but avoiding the accident altogether. The car equipped with ABS was able to avoid the accident while the car without ABS failed to do so.

it's like India not using DRS despite the technology. Typical Indian mentality..
